Tigers 2024-2025 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Awards

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Hot Stove season officially got underway on December 8th at the Winter Meetings. Since then, only 3 free agents have signed and 7 trades were made. Most of them were minor.
In general, the biggest free agents sign first and then it takes time for the rest of the market to readjust and for teams to update their target lists.
The only team in the AL Central other than the Detroit Tigers to make a move was the Guardians who traded away their 2Ber.
The Tigers have signed several players for depth reasons. For their roster, they added Alex Cobb to the starting rotation.
Scott Harris has stated they are looking for offensive power, a right-handed hitter, a reliever and potentially a Japanese player. Predictably, it is unwise of him to speak about trading players.
How do you feel right now about how quiet the Tigers have been just 10 days after the Winter Meetings started?

How do you feel right now about how quiet the Tigers have been so far during the Hot Stove season?

1. I'm fine. Good deals take time.

2. I'm getting impatient. I want to see some deals get done this month.

3. I'm worried that the Tigers won't do enough to improve the roster.

So, its not my money. If they continue to use him that's on them. Go with Sweeney and someone else. But payroll is low to withstand $25m.
those are two different issues. Of course they can withstand it. I think they should cut him.

Maybe but with this season and 2 more they probably won't. And they talk like they're expecting him to be part of the team once he's healthy.

I don't think they will either. I do think that the team would be better if they did cut him.

It will be a surprise to me if they cut him now. The hope for management is the hip surgery gives him better rotation and mobility when he is batting. So after he returns from rehab they will watch him play for the rest of the year or close to it.
If he improves they have two choices; keep him or trade him. If he is the same, is when the tigers should definitely eat the last two years of the contract after or close to the end of 2025.
Just my opinion.

He won't be traded. No one wants him. As far as the injury no way that makes him swing at those sliders a foot outside. Healthy or not, his plate recognition blows.

The Detroit Tigers have re-signed Brendan White to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training.

Article #627 this off season about Alex bregman and how he fits so great for the tigers this off season. Personally I think his agent is working overtime on the local market scene trying to build up fan pressure and get the tigers to sign him. I don’t think it works, I don’t see the tigers signing him.

GRINCHES GALORE.
