Tigers 2024-2025 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Awards

HOLLY HAPPY DAYS!
Totally Tigers

Happy Holidays (or Happy Holly Daze as we say around here) to all of our dear readers! Tomorrow, both Christmas and Hanukkah fall on the same day with Kwanzaa on the 26th.
No matter which holiday you celebrate, we send our very best wishes to all during this special time.
And every one of you who read TT‘s blogs are the gifts that keep on giving for us. It doesn’t matter if you comment regularly, sporadically or lurk silently in the background, TT loves you all and appreciates your loyalty. We look forward to keeping this blog fresh throughout 2025 and writing about even better advancements of our beloved team.
Here’s hoping that your holidays are merry and bright. We’re giving everyone a couple days off to enjoy this time of the year. We’ll be back on Friday with an all-new blog.
During this time (and with huge apologies to Clement Clarke Moore), may we dream that:

(sic) ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Comerica Park
Front Office execs were stirring, building a roster that not yet included Max Clark.
In hopes that top prospects will soon would be there;
And extend Tarik Skubal because they really, really care
.
The fans were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of new infielders danced in their heads.

The new CBA between MLB and the umpires' association, which is expected to be ratified next month, would give MLB flexibility in implementing the use of the electronic strike zone in the future. When that might take place, or in what form (a challenge system has been studied) has not been determined.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.

As the Detroit Tigers continue to prepare for the 2025 season, what do they need to do in order to have another season that is equal to or better than 2024?
I’ve got the 5 most important factors they either need to maintain or improve upon next year.

I’ve got the 5 most important factors they either need to maintain or improve upon next year.
1. Offense. I don't think that Greene or Carp need to step it up...they are fine. They do need to stay healthy though. Keith and Meadows need to step it up.

2. Injury. See above. That said, injuries are going to happen. Every team has to deal with them.

3. Skubal. He should be fine, as long as he doesn't get injured

4. Starting pitching. No shit! Adding Cobb isn't going to solve this problem.

5. Infield is a mess. Keith needs to play 3B, but they are concerned with his shoulder. They promoted Jung but I'm not sure he is ready. Sweeny has promise.

Of course, at the end of her article, she can't help but to throw shade at AA. Get over it bitch. Harris has had plenty of time to address everything above. He has done a pretty good job, but why does she continue to rip on AA...start complaining about what Harris hasn't done. He's had control of the organization for 3 off seasons.

The Detroit Tigers have signed Gleyber Torres to a 1-yr. contract. A RHB which is what Scott Harris said they need. But here's where it gets interesting...
Torres will play 2B, Colt Keith's position. But the Tigers started having Keith play 1B over the winter. It appears Keith will move to 1B and that Spencer Torkelson may be the odd man out.

Harris: “My message to Tork was if you have a big offseason and a big spring training there’s a role for you on this team. This team needs more right-handed power and we’ve seen Tork do that in the past.”
Scott Harris said Gleyber Torres will play second base and Colt Keith is moving to first. He said Keith is fired up about the move. As for Spencer Torkelson, Harris said there is a role for him (DH, backup first base) if he can produce.
