Tigers acquire Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez

Sure the Tigers will be criticized for what they gave up, but they were for the Cabrera trade and the Fister trade.

Yeah but understand that Jacob Turner is not a ML pitcher yet and could blow his arm out at any time or just never make it to the bigs full time. Anibal Sanchez is a good starter who you know what you are getting with him and he is an established ML pitcher.

You cannot use the logic of blowing out his arm because that in all reality could happen on Anibal's 1st start with us. The logic is its a VERY steep price to pay especially considering were including Rob Brantly as well considering if were unable to resign him at the end of the season were looking at giving up both of those players for Infante.

Its for sure a win all at all cost trade especially if were unable to resign Anibal.

We are in a win now mode. Turner could be good but he may not. We wont know for years. This is a good deal.

I really like this trade. Infante will be a HUGE upgrade at 2B and Sanchez will slot nicely into the middle of the rotation which means no more Smyly/Turner/Below/Oliver/whoever else as the #5 which is also nice.

Turner didn't impress me a bit during his limited showing. He may end up to be a good MLB pitcher, but it won't be for a couple more years. Brantly stings a little, but we've got a young starting catcher in Avila, and Laird has been a fantastic back-up, so we're pretty set in catching right now.

Just listening to the radio, one of the MLB websites says that Sanchez is arbitration-eligible. Not sure on the truth to it, but interesting none the less.

No he is a FA at the end of the season.

On another note.

The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar, a source said. Yanks also get undisclosed cash in deal.

Turner and Brantley seems steep, if only because Sanchez is a rental.

Infante is nice though, an everyday player is what I was hoping for.

At the end of the day, they are prospects. No one has any clue what they will turn out to be. Getting two quality players for prospects is a fantastic deal.

Wow. I could actually see him doing well there with that tiny RF.

Shit, that sucks, Ichiro is exactly the type of guy they need to get on base in front of their power guys.

Last 3 years have been huge drops for Ichrio but it figures the Yankees one up us.. IS's last three obp years in order .359, .310, and .288 this year...

I did not know Ichrio's OBp had dropped that drastically but .288 is not good...
