Tigers acquire Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez

Last 3 years have been huge drops for Ichrio but it figures the Yankees one up us.. IS's last three obp years in order .359, .310, and .288 this year...

They didn't one up us, our players will contribute more than Ichiro will.

Our trade helps our big league club more this season than theirs does.

Hmm, not quite sure if I am a fan of this trade or not. Was hoping for a top 2 starter for Brantley and Turner..granted I don't know very much about Sanchez but it seems like he is a average #3 good #4 type pitcher..Infante is definitely an upgrade but him alone is not worth two of our top prospects.

I know by the stats they didn't but in name power they did...

Raburn to be DFA to make room on the 40 man for Infante?

Assuming Sanchez takes Turners spot?

Not to mention Dirks rejoining the team soon.

We did essentially move our draft pick up from 2nd round to 1st round, so that's good at least, gives us two first round picks for next years draft, which our farm system needs.

Infante is going to add something like .086 points of average over what we've had all year from 2B. That's a HUGE upgrade for our offense. I think Sanchez is gonna surprise people. He's a solid #3 on our club. Again, this is a HUGE upgrade when you look at it as swapping him for Turner/Smyly/Oliver/Below/whoever. We gave up some very good prospects, but this will really help us in the short run. We might be scary come playoff time with VMart also due back.

The Yankees did not one up us. Ichiro is not the player he used to be.

Infante's obp has dipped also the last 2 seasons.. last year in detroit it was .338... Then in Atlanta it was .361, and .359...Last in in Florida it was .315 and this year it is .312 as of today..

I'm really expecting the Tigers to resign Sanchez in the off season, and then trading one of Porcello or Scherzer for a corner OFer.

We can't assume what Infante will hit, or how Sanchez will pitch yet.

If they do as well as they did in FLA it won't sting so much losing 2 of our 3 top prospects.

From the MLBTR article...

Tigers second basemen -- mainly Ramon Santiago and Ryan Raburn -- have combined for an MLB-worst .201/.286/.276 batting line. Infante, who's in the first year of a two-year, $8MM contract, has a .287/.312/.442 batting line in 347 plate appearances this year.

The two clubs also swapped the competitive balance selections they each won last week, which is a net positive for the Tigers, as the Marlins received the final pick of Round A (approximately the 37th selection), which the Tigers will get in exchange for the final pick Round B, which will be about the 75th pick.

They'll probably just send Kelly or Worth (isn't he up again?) down, no?

I don't think Kelly has options.

Worth probably goes for Dirks.

But seeing as they have not [yet] tried to move dirks or Berry [or Boesch] I can't see a spot for Raburn on this team.
