Who cares about a popularity contest Bob? We landed bigger impact players by far.
I know i just get sick of ESPN's coverage of NY and Boston... it gets old.

imo the only way this trade doesnt end up sucking is if we win the ws and/or we resign sanchez. otherwise we traded 2 of our 3 best prospects for a rental and a servicable 2nd baseman, which is a very steep price imo.
My thoughts exactly.
Upside of this deal for the Tigers is that they fill two needs (2B, SP), didn't give up Castellanos and have two 2013 picks in top 35 for now.
I dont think we will have our 1st rd pick. I think the Brewers still get that one because we signed Prince.
Last 3 years have been huge drops for Ichrio but it figures the Yankees one up us.. IS's last three obp years in order .359, .310, and .288 this year...
A deal giving up our overall #1 prospect would always look better if we had some control beyond this season but unfortunately we don't. Now compound that with the fact that unlike in the past IF we lose him to FA after this season we basically gain no compensation in return which makes this deal extremely risky for us.
Now EVEN if we are able to resign him were looking at a deal that will probably be in the range of 5y 45-60m overall which will almost surely mean that either Scherzer or Porcello will be moved this offseason.
Who do you think they would go after if they dangled Scherzer?? I personally like Scherzer and would be disappointed to see him go but if it got us a solid OFer I'd do the swap.
Dombrowski on further Tigers deals: "We're set at this point."
