Here's why ending Detroit Tigers' arbitration streak may be good thing.

The tax threshold seems to be around 203,000,000. Tigers at 111,725,000, and next season around 68,450. So plunging money in now would not be to big of a burden to over come in the future. Would you give 100 mill a year for Harper, Jackson / Jones / Pollock; Keuchel, Machado, Moustakas. That would be around 211,725,000, where in 2021 the threshold of 210,000,000 would set right in.
Now how to get them
Harper 20 mil + incentives
Machado 25 mil + incentives
Moustakas 15-18 mil +incentives
Keucher 15-18 mill + incentives Part of these incentives would be finish in top 10 in mvp cy young a mill, top 5, 2 mil, win one 5 mill. all a 10 mill signing bonus
Jackson 10 mill, jones/ Pollock 15 mill
Harper's contract would be like 20 mill a year for 12 years opt out after 2y and any year there after. Tigers could opt after 4 years should he be on the DL more than 100 games. Year after any MVP would raise to 25 mill. so he could make 35 the 2st season and 30 there after should he win many MVP's He could make 365 mil over 12 seasons but 12 mvps would be worth that. He could easily make 10+240 + 22+10 should just win one MVP= 282 Mill. Give Machado the same deal. Stay with the team for the long run and get a retirement bonus of 18 mil pan out over 18 years as well could make it 300 mill over 12 seasons. Contract be some what like Max Scherzer's.
Been thinking about this for some time. Not going to happen but it is an idea. But should I be the GM I try to make something like Basketball James deal work.
Also tell all are based on getting most of these players. Getting a decent 2B like Josh Harrison would be nice as well.

Some times I have to much time on my hands. But dreaming is for the off season.

DET cannot sustain that kind of payroll. Heck, they would lucky to break even at $150 Mil.

Agent: Tigers' Nicholas Castellanos wants trade sooner rather than later.

Who among us who went ballistic watching Nick play 3rd base, Left field, and right field, now doesn't want to see him get traded?
and obviously not going to get anything decent in return after seeing clownshoes Avila bungle other trades for these prospects who either can field and not hit, hit and not field, or can't draw a walk to save themselves?

I hope he gets traded sooner rather than later. Hopefully you get more trading him now rather than July.

Nick says trade me now and not in June ya putz

Man this team is going to really suck some serious goat in 2019

A read that article. Al wants us to be the White Sox. Lol.

I'd love the Tigers to be the White Sox. They have the #3 farm system in baseball and some good young talent at the major league level. Right now they have a payroll of $80M, so they have some money to spend when they start to get competitive (they just offered Machado a contract last week). They have a bright future.

They certainly didn't look like it last year. Not every good farm system translate into winning baseball. They haven't ha a winning season in 8 years. I rather us become the Cardinals.
