It's July, we are somehow still in the hunt despite being under .500, we need to make moves, I'm starting the thread. Post your 2012 Tigers Hot Stove stuff here...

I'm prepared to be roundly laughed at, but I'd take Guthrie if the Rockies are giving him away. For as bad of a year as he's having his road splits aren't too terrible. Doesn't strike anybody out, but I always thought he put up good numbers for pitching in the AL East. Maybe the change of scenery and chance to pitch in a pennant race would turn things around for him.

No more Coors field to inflate his overall stats though.

I think anything would be better than the current options at 2B, but it's a pretty barren crop of 2Bs this year. I think I read something the other day that said there were only about 4 MLB 2Bs with an OPS >.800. That's a pretty scary stat.

Any Rockies pitcher needs to factor in the Coors disadvantage, so, you're not that off base with this suggestion.

"Doesn't strike anybody out" scares the bejesus out of me with this team's defense.

He's is better than anything the Tigers' have to offer, for certain. Which is not saying much. But if the Tigers got him for a pink backpack and a player never to be named later, I'd sign that.

Same here. I wish there were better options to upgrade at 2B, but there really aren't. If we want an offensive upgrade it's likely gonna be at a corner OF spot and/or DH for the rest of the season. I'd be okay with grabbing Scutaro on the cheap, looking for a corner OF / DH (Quentin maybe?), and trading for a top half of the rotation pitcher like Garza. I'd love to have Hamels or Greinke, but don't want to trade the farm for a half season rental.

Not directly a Tigers rumor other than mentioning we were on his block list in 2010, but D'backs could be considering moving Upton for a 3B. With our need for corner OF help and having Castellanos blocked for now by Miggy, we could be players.

I'm thinking Castellanos is going to be a LF'er anyhow. So Miggy is not really blocking him.

Upton would be a nice addition though.

Not sure... I could see Nick being a 3B, Miggy going back to 1B, and Fielder being the DH in 2014.

i would LOVE if this happened.

I think this has got to be about the most appealing option for a hitter right now. Upton is young, locked up (unlike Quentin), and is a pretty good defender in a position of need. If we could get him without giving up Castellanos, that'd be ideal. Not sure what he'd cost, but maybe something like Turner, Below, and Boesch could get the ball rolling there.
