Tigers Hot Stove 2012

No, not at all. I was just thinking Kelly had options left was all.

I wasn't aiming this at you, I was just saying...

if they were both in their mid 20's then maybe it would be a concern. If they both quit retired tomorrow it could be a blessing..at least we could move on and see if there's someone else we can keep moving up and down for 8 years to be mediocre.

I didn't necessarily think it was, Beez. No offense taken at all anyhow.

The reason I was really asking about options was because I was thinking about DFAs for Raburn and/or Delmon. I think the Tigers are payroll sensitive right now. I don't think there is necessarily a cap or anything like that, but they seem somewhat opposed to giving people away who are under contract or making trades that are too costly. I think that might be a big reason why we didn't go after Hanley, Wandy, Carlos Lee, Soriano, and others. I don't think they saw those guys as being enough bang for the buck, and I don't see them wanting to cut bait on guys that are owed a few million bucks to have to replace them with others owed as much or more. This is where having a deeper positional farm system would really help.

Kelly has no options because he's been a free agent already. 3 times if you can believe it.

But I agree with King, I think the tigers are reluctant to pay the salaries of anyone else while they play for others teams.

Don Kelly's $900k is much less then Raburns $2.1MM though.

Corey Hart would be a perfect fit for this club, not sure he would cost Castellanos either.

Either Haim or Feldman. And Haim is dead.

Haim and Feldman both were in it but I meant haim...it was a joke. Sorry, it's been a slow day on the board and I am extremely bored.

1. One of the worst defensive RFers in the game

2. Cannot take a walk

3. Only hits lefties

4. Cannot hit outside of Miller Park

5. Will make $10 Mil in 2013

Yup...he is perfect

Almost if we are talking about DY.

Man Angel's now have a hell of a top of the rotation now with Weaver/Greinke. Going to be interesting come playoff time.

No kidding. That's a huge boost to that rotation. Weaver/Greinke/Wilson/Haren is a nasty setup come playoff time.

Probably not a great fit for us, but the D'Backs designated Lyle Overbay. He's a 35y/o lefty with a .292/.367/.448 batting line in 110 plate appearances this year. I'd happily take him on as the DH and cut bait on Delmon Young.

I'm just glad Boesch is hitting again...he's got to be around .300 or so over the last month.

Avila too...not sure how well he's hitting average -wise but he seems to be drawing more walks and is on base a lot more than before. Maybe the all star break was a good starting point for those guys.

Aside from the salary, I wish we would offer the Cubs Berry, Dirks, and Boesch for Soriano.

We need a legit 5 hitter, and a power/production corner outfielder, something neither Berry or Boesch have been/will be.

The 18 million a year for 2 more years is a killer though.

The Tigers could get Soriano if they want him but it would have to include some prospects not just 3 AAAA players. If the Cubs want to trade him they will likely pick up a good portion of his salary.

Dirks, Berry, and Boesch are all young and cheap, and that's what the Cubs are looking for.

They could also rebuild their farm by trading the 3 if they preform well after a trade for prospects in the offseason.

Yes they are but why would the Cubs want to trade 1 OF for 3 that are not every day players and all pretty much play the same position. I think if I were them I would look for a pitcher, maybe one of the three you mentioned and a minor league prospect.

Soriano with balky knees, not a good fit for Tigers larger left field.

neither is carlos lee.
