Tigers Hot Stove 2012

I'm thinking there has to be more to it than a straight swap since Drew is having a terrible offensive year and is a free agent after the season, and Peralta is fairly cheap next year at $6mil or he can be bought out for $500k. Maybe this could include a prospect or two and they could include Hill/Roberts? Maybe it's a larger deal with Upton involved? On the surface, it just doesn't make sense as presented.

That trade would be awful for the Tigers straight up Peralta for Drew.

Andrew Miller got hammered in all his MLB appearances iirc.

And we don't know Turner is being used as a centerpiece, for all we know he may still be off limits. We'll know soon enough.

Great point, nearly a 6 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 21 appearances. Down goes yet another half-baked theory.

Word is that Miami is still looking to move Hanley Ramirez. Would you give up Castellanos and Peralta for him and make him the SS for the next few years? I would.

That's possibly the dumbest trade I've ever heard. Not only does Hanley Ramirez suck now, he is extremely expense, and bad in the clubhouse. Why the fuck would DD give up his top prospect and starter SS for someone who has become terrible?

Prospects are prospects. I like Castellanos, but there is no guarantee he pans out or plays for us in the window where we've got the best shot at a WS (i.e., this year and next).

Hanley has shown he can be a superstar (see his '06-'10 stats), he's young (28), he's very tight with Miggy, and he clearly needs a change of scenery. Beyond that, Peralta is only signed through next season at $6mil (IIRC) with a $500k team option, so there's a good chance we could be shopping for a SS soon anyways.

I'd trade for the known commodity, and hope that the change of scenery and return to SS reignite him.

Hanley fucking sucks right now and has for the last 2 years. If you want to go by past stats, the Tigers should sign Andruw Jones this offseason, he was really good in the early 2000s.

Seriously one of the dumbest trade proposals I've seen in awhile, do you not understand that Castellanos is one of the top prospects in all of baseball, right? If the Tigers wanted to get a super star with him, they could. I can assure you that DD would laugh his ass off at the Marlins proposing that trade to him.

Please keep Hanley as far away from the Tigers as possible, not only does he suck now, but he destroys clubhouse chemistry.

You are trying to talk about ruining clubhouse chemistry on a team run by Ozzie Guillen that has moved this guy out of the position he wants to play, and has done nothing but lose games. Why would you expect him to be anything other than unhappy?

I understand what Castellanos is, and I also understand what Peralta and Ramirez are. I'd make that trade.

HanRam is bad, expensive, and a prima donna.

I doubt I'd give up Peralta for him straight up, let alone Castellanos.
