Tigers in a 3 way deal with redsox + whitesox

I like it. Garcias walk rate is terrible and most of his hits were seeing eye singles last year. Iglesias is a defense for offense trade but we can afford that.

If jp does get suspended hell serve right away. He doesn't want to be a fa with a 50 gamer looming

If the White Sox lose Rios or De Aza to trade Garcia could have a chance to play right away.

Who doesn't love this deal? We get a Gold Glove caliber infielder for peanuts. Garcia is/was all hype. Let him toil in the Sox minor leagues for a years

well...I thought that you might not like it. This will only make the Tigers worse "close and late" offensivley.

Well obviously we would rather have Jhonny late in games at the plate, but his days as a Tiger are numbered. If it turns out Iggy is just in a slump and he his hitting potential is around .270 - .280+, this is a great deal for the Tigers. We didn't have to give Castellanos, and we still have guys like Collins, Fields, Moya as the next wave of OF prospects in a couple years.

If his offense is as bad as it is projected to be and they get another weak hitting 2B the lineup will look like the 2012 Tigers next year.

Is he destined for stardom? Probably not, Iggy could be another Alcides Escobar / Dee Gordon for all I know, but it's a chance worth taking when you lose Peralta for the rest of the regular season. Xander Boggarts would have been better obviously but he would have cost Castellanos and maybe Rondon.

Besides now that Iggy is back at his natural position it could spark his bat.

Here is my take on it for now. I am happy that they got a good defensive player and a player that can take JP's place if he is suspended. I HOPE that he is Ramon Santiago's replacement for 2014-? unless his bat is worthy of being an every day player.

Heard on the radio that MLB is announcing the suspensions this week and that all the players have agreed to not fight it, with the exception of A-Rod. They're going after A-Rod's contract.

Would make sense for Jhonny to take it now, he'll be back for the playoffs and he's a FA, you wouldn't want to try to get the best FA deal with a 50 game suspension looming.

everything I've read says Iglesias is the best defensive prospect in the game, we need range at SS with Miggy at 3b. we can win games by allowing fewer runs vs scoring more. either way, we're losing J-honny so we need help at SS. this guy could be a starter for the next 10 years at SS, bat him 9th, we'll still score plenty of runs.

Tom. Iglesias is the top rated defensive shortstop in the minors prior to this year. He, most likely, is the best defensive shortstop in the majors. That is where his value as a player lies. If he can maintain a .650 OPS or higher, he will be well worth it.

He isn'replacing Santiago. He is replacing Peralta (or Infante).

We need some leather at SS if JP is going to be out of the picture.

The more I read the more I like this, he's not going to be very good at the plate, but wow, this guy is one of the best defensive SS prospects ever. Ozzie Smith and Omar Visquel are the names mentioned several times. Those are the 2 greatest defensive SSs of all time.

How this shakes out with the trade last night but,

The Tigers have recalled the contract of RHP pitcher Luis Marte from Triple A Toledo and placed him on the 15-day disabled list.
that's right, they called him up to the Tigers and then put him on the DL.

Tigers can afford a limp bat in return for a great glove. Best hitting and scoring team in the league. Fister and Rick P will be thrilled to have this guy behind them
