Tigers in a 3 way deal with redsox + whitesox

Me too. And who knows, coming from Cuba - maybe he has learned how to hit. SS was our biggest need..

We got the best player in the deal (including Peavy, IMO). I love this trade.

True. If nothing else we can at least relax a bit int he offseason, rather than worrying about trying to fill BOTH middle IF positions.

So the question now is....who gets the DFA? Someone has to go from the 25 man roster.

Bye Ramon? Donny?

Heyman reports that not only are the Tigers not looking for a shortstop in a trade but also that the Tigers are not even having internal discussions along those lines:

LMAO.

If Friday is d day tommorrow could be jp's last game as a tiger :-(

I think people overreact with that. I remember when AJ had a huge BABIP and though it dropped has still been pretty good.

When I read the article where DD said the Tigers were "likely done" trading, I knew shit was going down.

We should know by now, the man never tips his hand. I'd never want to play him at poker...

Scores of scouts have compared Iglesias' defensive skills to Omar Visquel and Ozzie Smith, the two best fielding shortstops in history, both of whom had career OPSes under .700. If Iglesias can have an OPS of around .650-700 and have defense that matches his potential and the scouts eyes, this kid will be a star for us for years to come.

lol, any time i see him saying "we're done" or "we're not looking" i know something is right around the corner.

You can’t argue with Iglesias’ defensive prowess. He is the best defensive infielder in the minor leagues, and frankly, it’s not very close. Iglesias is a jaw-dropping defender and he is worth of a big-league roster spot thanks to those skills alone. Offensively, he will always be a bottom of the order hitter; more of a “punch and judy” type that hits for a low average with few extra-base hits. Teams aren’t going to pay Iglesias for his bat. They are going to pay him for being the type of defensive player that invokes drooling from onlookers.

Despite a lack of offensive progress, I continued to push Jose Iglesias, something I don’t believe was wrong. He’s an incredible defender and he could very well carve out a lengthy career as the new Rey Ordonez; particularly as the game heads in a less offense-oriented direction.

Still the top true shortstop prospect in the system, Iglesias is arguably the minor leagues best defensive infielder. His movements around the infield border on the ridiculous and have been called “baseball pornography” by one scout I spoke to this summer. As a defender he can step into the big leagues right now. His offensive game remains rather empty as he lacks power or patience. Any offensive profile he has leaves him in the bottom of the order, but his glove makes him a value big leaguer anyway.

Who doesn't love this deal? We get a Gold Glove caliber infielder for peanuts. Garcia is/was all hype. Let him toil in the Sox minor leagues for a years
