Porcello has given up nine runs over 12 innings in losing his last two starts. The righty gave up five runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Angels on July 16.
He's 3-1 in six lifetime starts versus Los Angeles despite a 6.29 ERA.
Greinke has a 7.20 ERA in his last four starts, yielding at least four earned runs in four consecutive starts for the first time in his nine-year career. Greinke has a 2.13 ERA in his past six starts at Comerica Park.

Miguel Cabrera is at designated hitter to watch the wear and tear on his right ankle. Delmon Young moves from DH to left field, and Andy Dirks moves to the bench for a night. Ramon Santiago fills in at third base.
Jim Leyland said he was going to start Brennan Boesch regardless Friday, and he stuck to the plan. He’s in right field, batting fifth behind Prince Fielder. Omar Infante sticks in the second spot against right-hander Zack Greinke.

Dirks vs RHP .353 .395 .533 .928
Delmon vs RHP .252 .291 .352 .642

Leyland said Benoit is off today but everyone else is good to go.
Cabrera hopes it will just be one day at DH. Have to see how ankle feels tomorrow.
Miggy still has ankle wrapped, but looks and sounds like he feels better. Was asked if he was worried when first did it: "Yeah." But I Looooovve to Hit.

Miguel Cabrera in Detroit Tigers' lineup at DH; Delmon Young shifts to left field vs. Angels.
It looks like Miguel Cabrera won't need to miss a game -- for now.
Cabrera is back in the lineup for tonight's series opener, a day after he exited Thursday's 3-2 win early due to soreness in his right ankle.
There was question as to whether he'd be ready for tonight's game against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. Apparently, he is -- but as a precaution, he's been tabbed the DH.
It'll be the sixth time this season Cabrera will bat DH, and -- as a result -- utility infielder Ramon Santiago will make his second start at third base.
Santiago replaced Cabrera at third base in the second inning before he was removed in the ninth inning for pinch-hitter Brennan Boesch.
With Cabrera at DH, Delmon Young will shift to left field -- a spot he hasn't started twice in his last 49 games. Andy Dirks will move to the bench and Brennan Boesch, who was expected to start tonight, regardless of Cabrera's health, will start in right field.
The ankle injury that took Miguel Cabrera out of Thursday's Detroit Tigers win won't keep him out for long.

Miguel Cabrera to DH for opener tonight vs. Angels.
He'll be the designated hitter tonight as Detroit opens a weekend set vs. the Los Angeles Angels at Comerica Park.
Cabrera said today his ankle is "much better." Cabrera said he was worried when he had to leave the game Thursday. The ankle was sore when he woke up today, but it felt better as he began to walk around.
Leyland said the athletic training staff suggested that he put Cabrera at DH, so he did.
Rick Porcello (9-8, 4.67 ERA) takes the mound for the Tigers, coming off a 6-inning, 3-run effort in a 3-2 loss to the Orioles on Aug. 18. He gave up five runs on eight hits and three walks in 5.2 innings the last time he faced the Angels, an 8-6 win on July 16.
Zack Greinke will get the start for the Angels, hoping to turn around a slump that began since he was traded from the Brewers. He is 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA in the American League.
Alex Avila is 3-for-7 against Greinke, while Cabrera is 8-for-28, Delmon Young is 6-for-22 with a homer and Jhonny Peralta is 10-for-41.

Pujols not in the lineup for the Halos tonight. Cabrera DH’ing with sore right ankle. Angels got in at around 4am this morning.
from The nose of LaMancha.

Leyland: "I had Santiago going to 2B, moved Omar to 3B, but I like it the other way, b/c I think Omar’s range is real good, so I just left it".
Leyland: "We have a ground-ball pitcher pitching tonight, so if they hit it to the middle of the field, I wanted him there".

Tigers manager Jim Leyland on facing the suddenly-hot-again Angels:
"I always talk to you guys about that. Eight days ago, they were really floundering. Tampa swept them at home, everybody’s up in arms. Now they go to Boston, and they’re just pounding the ball. That’s why, a lot of times, it’s when you play somebody. So we gotta shut them down. They’re pounding the ball all around, all of a sudden.
"This is a team that got off to a real slow start, and then really got going when the (Mike) Trout kid came up, and then floundered a little bit, and then are right back on. This is a good team.
They got some big boys, as far as hitting it over the fence. So did Toronto. We just caught a break with Toronto, because we missed two or three of their big bats."

Confirmed that the BaseballAmerica report of GCL Tigers D.J. Driggers being suspended 50 games for PEDs is correct.
MLB came out with a release on it.
Also said ex-Tiger David Pauley suspended 50 games for a second offense with a "drug of abuse."

Cant baker play 3b?

In other news you guys hear about becket, gonzalez, crawford and punto to dodgers?...crazy lol

Last game I saw in person was the 13-0 waxing where it was 4-0 in the first inning after four hitters.

Crawford (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday, the Red Sox's official Twitter reports.

Recommendation: Dr. James Andrews oversaw the surgery and Crawford is expected to make a full recovery, though his 2013 season remains in jeopardy. He'll likely begin the preliminary stages of his rehab in the coming weeks.

Man, thats a couple of long flyouts so far. Hopefully they can turn those into hits the second time through the order.

Angels are bitching, but the called 3rds were obviously strikes.

Sit down chumps.
