Tigers vs. angels Game Thread Sept. 8

Raburn has proven he can hit. It's not like Boesch has been having a good season.

Boesch is a joke, unless he changes his batting style,. he'll be out of baseball.

Angels do a marvelous job of fouling off verlander pitches. I think it gets to him because he knows he already at 30 in the first inning in seemingly every game.

Ever since the all-star game he doesn't seem to be the same pitcher.

Is he tipping pitches or something nobody is fooled by anything he's throwing up there.

he'll probably settle down now but the damage is done, I don't think we can score 5 runs.

verlander's 1st inning approach is becoming a problem.

that pu ssy 90 mph fastball isn't fooling anyone.

Verlander over the last month has mid-90s striaght as an arrow fastballed his way right out of Cy Young contention.

this and just maybe he is going through a dead arm period.
JV is leading the league or majors in total number of pitches thrown again.

JV really needs to stop this 90-92mph crap in the first few innings. They're sitting on it. No reason he can't start out at 94/95...

Exactly...it's stupid...why would you want to intentionally make yourself a mediocre pitcher...

Makes no damn sense.

Or start it off with lots of breaking stuff, always works against us.

It's so he can go further in games. Not many other pitchers can then throw 100 at 120+ pitches in. The problem is when you miss with your location like the Trout HR, hitters aren't going to miss it whereas you may be able to sneak it by them if it's 97.

Jim Price inferred the Angels were stealing signs somehow, because of the 4 first pitch swings and XBH's.

Dunno if he's right or not, but if you know it's coming anyone can hit the fastball even if it's 99 or 100.

He started the All Star game throwing hard; that didn't work out too well. I would guess that the reasons have to do with finding his command and rhythm before he dials it up. I would guess that other teams have found patterns to his pitching, or he might be tipping pitches somehow.
