Tigers vs. Astros April 12, 2021 Game 10

Remember we traded some 1st round picks and because DomDom traded away ml prospects. DomDom messed up our ml system as bad as Millen messed up the Lions.

Yeah, and I hated to hear him boast about his "complimentary" acquisitions....hey guess what DD? Your BPs outside of CL & SU and benches mostly stunk to high heaven!!

Lest we forget that the late Mike kick started the whole thing by overpaying for star FAs and okay DD extending some SPs who had not earned or deserved to be.

A. J. Hinch has been singing Greiner's praises, saying that Grayson works so well as their battery partner. We saw it last night when he caught Casey Mize. It was mentioned that Mize never shook him off in those 7 scoreless innings, proof that they are both on the same page.

Detroit Tiger fans may have seen the last of Jake Rogers. It appears official that the Tigers have chosen Greyson Greiner as the designated catcher to Casey Mize and Tarik Skubull and Spencer Turnbull when he returns. They all are the future of this team.

When your pitching coach doesn't fully support your #1 draft pick and his talents, that's a huge problem. Logically, we should see Casey really break out this year with Fetter as his new coach.

Mize's splitter was devastating. Contrast yesterday with last year's pitching coach Rick Anderson who is on the record about not liking his pitchers to throw the splitter. He also said he doesn't like to teach it.

The hiring of Chris Fetter by the Detroit Tigers is already paying off. Fetter wasn't with the team for Casey Mize's first 2021 game, but he was yesterday. Mize credited him for taking him aside in the 2nd inning and getting his mechanics back on track.

Totally Tigers

Casey Mize is the first Tigers rookie to throw 7.0-or-more shutout innings in a game since Michael Fulmer?s complete game shutout on August 14, 2016 at Texas.

According to Elias Sports, tonight marks the first time Detroit has gotten homers from the 7th, 8th and 9th place hitters in the batting order since June 6, 2006 at Chicago (AL) (Thames/Shelton/Inge).

The Tigers have hit back-to-back home runs for the first time since August 8, 2020 at Pittsburgh, when Miguel Cabrera, C.J. Cron and Jeimer Candelario went back-to-back-to-back.
