damon was also DFA'ed pregame, lowe yesterday. hafner on paternity leave.
How will the Tigers find playing time for both Andy Dirks, who was activated from the disabled list today, and Quintin Berry, you ask? This lineup shows how.
Jim Leyland cautioned he won’t be going strictly by the matchups when he fills out his lineup every day, but said it’s going to play a role. In tonight’s case, he said, he went with as many left-handed hitters as he could against Indians sidearming right-hander Justin Masterson.

Andy Dirks bats sixth, starts in right field; Delmon Young gets day off.
It certainly didn't take long for Andy Dirks to get his feet wet.
Dirks is starting in right field and batting sixth Friday night -- a few hours after the 26-year-old was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.
With the right-handed Justin Masterson slated to start for Cleveland, manager Jim Leyland is sticking with his decision to bat Brennan Boesch fifth behind first baseman Prince Fielder.
With Dirks in right field, Boesch will be tonight's designated hitter, spelling Delmon Young, who will receive a rare off day.
Omar Infante is back at second base after a scheduled off day Wednesday and Ramon Santiago will start at shortstop in place of Jhonny Peralta.

Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks was reinstated from the disabled list on Friday before the Tigers' game against the Indians at Comerica Park.
The left-handed hitting Dirks was inserted into the starting lineup by manager Jim Leyland and will play right field and bat sixth against Indians right-hander Justin Masterson (7-9, 4.47 ERA). Delmon Young is not in the lineup.
First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
To make room on the active roster for Dirks, utility man Don Kelly was designated for assignment.
Dirks had been out since May 31 with right Achilles tendinitis. As a Tiger this season, Dirks is hitting .328 with four homers and 16 RBI in 37 games. He hit .216 (8-for-37) with a double, two home runs and five RBI in 10 games with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens.
Anibal Sanchez (5-8, 4.11 ERA) makes his second start for the Tigers.
