damon was also DFA'ed pregame, lowe yesterday. hafner on paternity leave.

How will the Tigers find playing time for both Andy Dirks, who was activated from the disabled list today, and Quintin Berry, you ask? This lineup shows how.
Jim Leyland cautioned he won’t be going strictly by the matchups when he fills out his lineup every day, but said it’s going to play a role. In tonight’s case, he said, he went with as many left-handed hitters as he could against Indians sidearming right-hander Justin Masterson.

Andy Dirks bats sixth, starts in right field; Delmon Young gets day off.
It certainly didn't take long for Andy Dirks to get his feet wet.
Dirks is starting in right field and batting sixth Friday night -- a few hours after the 26-year-old was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.
With the right-handed Justin Masterson slated to start for Cleveland, manager Jim Leyland is sticking with his decision to bat Brennan Boesch fifth behind first baseman Prince Fielder.
With Dirks in right field, Boesch will be tonight's designated hitter, spelling Delmon Young, who will receive a rare off day.
Omar Infante is back at second base after a scheduled off day Wednesday and Ramon Santiago will start at shortstop in place of Jhonny Peralta.
from Mlive

Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks was reinstated from the disabled list on Friday before the Tigers' game against the Indians at Comerica Park.
The left-handed hitting Dirks was inserted into the starting lineup by manager Jim Leyland and will play right field and bat sixth against Indians right-hander Justin Masterson (7-9, 4.47 ERA). Delmon Young is not in the lineup.
First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
To make room on the active roster for Dirks, utility man Don Kelly was designated for assignment.
Dirks had been out since May 31 with right Achilles tendinitis. As a Tiger this season, Dirks is hitting .328 with four homers and 16 RBI in 37 games. He hit .216 (8-for-37) with a double, two home runs and five RBI in 10 games with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens.
Anibal Sanchez (5-8, 4.11 ERA) makes his second start for the Tigers.

Indians are struggling these past two series. Need to kick 'em when they're down. Must must must take at least 2 of 3 if not sweep...

Tonight's game is on MLB network as well as being MLB.tv's "free game of the day."

Cleveland is coming in ice cold riding a 6 game losing streak, I command it stay that way for at least another 3 days. LOL

I swear I saw Jim Leyland at the Greektown casino today around 12:30. He wasn't gambling. He was just walking by himself leaving the building. I decided it was too weird to turn around and sorta chase him out of the casino to confirm if it was.

He had to go all the way to NY for 30 seconds? LOL gotta just love our court system eh.

Young stood before the judge for about 30 seconds at Manhattan Criminal Court before his case was adjourned. Young is supposed to return to court Nov. 7 — after the World Series — to face a misdemeanor charge of aggravated harassment.

Probably mumbling something to the effect, " God damn non-smokers, can't have a cig anywhere in this casino".
That would have been great if you had been able to bump into him, tell him how much we love his lineups.lol

I read that this morning, and was thinking what a charmed life many of these athletes have. Any of us with something similar, we would have had hell to pay.

Probably wasn't him...he wasn't smoking...and you can smoke in the casinos still.

really...so many around here don't allow, or have designated areas. Good to know if I ever get back to Detroit for a week.

You can't smoke in the bars anymore but you can smoke in the casinos so all the smokers goto the casinos now instead of the bar. The state sure knows how to help cure gambling addiction eh. LOL. yippy...

This losing to Cleveland shit has to stop. Cleveland is playing awful right now, the Tigers better take advantage.

Good call by country joe west, out of the baseline,

double play

Prince is playing around first much better than early in the year,

Sanchez with 15 pitches,

I am watching the Cleveland broadcast and the announcers said "Joe West helps the Tigers get out of the first.".

rick manning?
and if joe west called him safe and no tag, it would have been a good call.
