Tigers vs. indians Game Thread August 3

nice 2 innings by Darrin Downs, 1 hit 3 k's,

Tigers lead 10 - 2.

wishful thinking....but could you guys see villarreal turning into a future closer. He has a couple really nice pitches and can definitely throw it by ppl.

I wouldn't mind him being transitioned to a closer's role at some point. Has a power arm and really good movement on a lot of his pitches.

Nice stressful free win for a change, now tomorrow we need to do that to Uboldo also and stop making him look better than he is.

Absolutely could, it's just a matter of him staying calm and not getting over amp'd from time to time.

anyone see the indians are 0 and 7 on their 9 game road trip.

Physically he clearly has the tools to be a closer. Throws hard and has swing and miss pitches incuding some off speed stuff. It just comes down to mentally...and can he do it consistently. He looks great at times though.

ESPN's Hit Tracker Online estimated Prince Fielder's home run on Friday night at 432 feet. His double off the wall in right-center field was also estimated at 432 feet, according to ESPN Stats and Info, and would have been a home run in 28 other Major League parks.
