Tigers vs. indians Game Thread September 7

i'm thinking i want to run over to espn real quick and see all of the whining indian fans have to say.

Valverde 9th inning,

thome fastball strike call, fastball fouled back, grounder to Santiago with the shift near second throws to Cabrera,

f'kn'ultimatesteroidgoonduncan strike call on the corner, swings and misses a fastball, on/off the corner ball, chases low and away, sit down ya shithook,

chisenhall splitter strike call, grounder to Cabrera,

Tigers win 8 - 6,
Verlander wins his 22 on the season,
Valverde with his 42 consecutive save and ties jones for most in a season by a Tiger,
TigersVictoryCigar.

42 for 42 now and ties the club record of Todd Jones.. Can he beat Eric Gagne's streak of saves? Probably not, but it would be great if he did..

Valverde has done a better job of keeping my blood pressure down lately.

good win, Got to say I expected the Tigers to have another collapse in the second half. What a pleasant surprise. Im just hopen they didnot get hot to early to cool down in the play offs.

Didn't Gagne's streak get an asterisk over the blown save he got in the All-Star game?

Wow, we are motoring and JV got lifted up after making some mistakes. Every player is contributing right now. Leyland realizes you win with a full roster and I'll give him some props.

Amazing game!!! JV gets #22, Benoit and Valverde shut the door and Martinez provided the power.

6 out of 6 vs Chicago and Cleveland virtually assures us of the title! Amazing baseball!

lol the indians fans are throwing in the towel. yikes...9.5 games back.

I don't remember that, maybe.

A well earned day off tomorrow. These Tigers are playing some clutch ball. It's nerve racking at times, but it's good preparation for the playoffs. We could go 5-14 the rest of the way and get to 86 wins.

6 key games dating back to Friday, 6 consecutive wins sweeping the two teams closest to you in the standings.
It's good to be a Tigers fan.

Valverde ties Tigers team record with 42 straight saves.

Tigers lead is 8.5 over whitesox and 9.5 over indians.
White Sox play tonight.

Valverde ties the Tigers single-season saves mark, and he owns best single-season streak since Gagne in 2003.

lol the royals are ahead of the twins in the standings holy cow thats weird

too bad they couldn't finish 6th, lol.
all those years of the twins, whitesox, and indians trolls at espn, ESAD.

Nice win.

Just a short comment that will ruffle feathers I'm sure......

But digging back through the pages here, I see a lot of people who never threw a baseball past HS Varsity questioning what pitch Verlander threw in what count.

Seriously? The guy is the best pitcher in all MLB this year, and has the ERA lead in the AL, I think I'll trust his judgement, even if he's wrong from time to time.

I mean FFS, would you tell Picasso what color to paint with or Rodin what stone to carve?

Verlander is an artist, and MLB is his canvas.

I agree with you regarding that 0-2 pitch and I told people to get off his back. It was a high fast ball that probalby wasn't quite as high as he had hoped. You have to give the batter credit once in a while!

You are talking about the Tigers fan base. Many of which started paying attention in June of 2006 and have way more managerial knowledge than Jim Leyland.

If Verlander screwed up. People around here will be the first to know.

I feel like a lot of the angry comments come from emotions that are boiling over, but yeah, questioning JV on the pitches he throws is just ridiculous. He has clearly proven that he knows what he is doing.
