God I love little Donny Kelly....but WTF is he doing batting CLEANUP???

At least someone had the sense to put Lard and his .190something BA. 9th.

He is playing 1B, therefor Jimmy's time-honored/tested strategy is to bat him in the same spot as Fielder, who Don Freaking Kelly is replacing. Good thing that it is still ST, else Rogo if he was in attendance, would run onto the CoPa field, and then into the dugout to strangle Leyland...haha.

"Speaking" of ST, there was little need to play the games in FL, as it has been in the mid-upper 70s in SE MI and is supposed to remain that way for the coming week...unreal.

Don Kelly is a good ball player. A player you like to have on any team. He's a good utility guy.

Eh. rogo wets his pampers every time Don Kelly plays in a game period, I don't think that would be his breaking point.

Exactly.

I don't like to see him start games much, and I don't like to see him start a game and hit lower than 7th, but his value is immeasurable, if the poor guy could only hit worth a lick.

Instead I'll take superior to average defense at 5 positions and average to just below at 2, and emergency catcher.

Plus, we all saw that bender he can throw off the mound. ::)

Former Tigers right-hander Edwin Jackson will make his second consecutive start against Detroit and ex-Tiger reliever Ryan Perry is scheduled to pitch in relief, and former Tigers reliever Chad Durbin is also set to pitch for the Nationals.

As soon as I saw the lineup and Kelly at first batting cleanup, I knew...I just knew.
Can't say that I agree with it, and would rather the replacement player in the lower third of the lineup, and move others up a spot.
But these moves + strategies of Smokeys, seem to work more often than they don't.

Yea, KC.

When they work they just work, but when they fail, they fail miserably.

Well guys, last year when it failed miserably and also when Leyland kept sticking with the top 3 spots with horrible numbers including poor obp,
I kept tweeting telling him it and he was a dumb ass.
Can't say he read, listened, or anything, but I sure felt better.

Spring training numbers don't mean anything, but they're sure fun to look at:
Tigers' 3-4-5 hitters batting .393, .345, .519.
