One of the more satisfying wins of the year and exactly why we paid Prince a King's Ransom to come here. Prince is a total beast, he's having a great season, period. Better money spent than signing Pujols so far.

Tigers are +73 on Baltimore but with an even record. That's mind blowing.

Suxs threaten but don't score in the 9th KC hangs on 4-2

Tigers pick up a game, holysheet we finally pick up a game!

1.5

Very nice win. Prince and Miggy come through on a night were JV struggled. Nice to see Benoit look sharp too.

Tigers ace Justin Verlander on pitching nearly as well as last year, and having vastly different results:
"Kind of. I was wary of that, not to get down whatever happens, just go out there and pitch. I don?t feel like I?ve pitched quite as well, but pitched pretty well. Obviously, the win-loss record isn?t there, but that?s pretty much it. I know that win-loss is something that?s way out of your control. You?ve just gotta go out there and try to keep your team in games, and do what?s to your ability."

Tigers manager Jim Leyland on three home runs combined from twosome of Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera:
"We got the big blows from the big guys, and there?s no defense for those. Turned the crowd around a little bit. Turned the team around, obviously. We needed that. We looked just a little bit stale. Miggy gets the first one right away and then Prince gets two of them. That?s a pretty good combination, those two guys, and obviously, they did what they do. Tonight, it was huge for us."
Leyland: "I don't know that I've ever seen any ball in my entire life hit any harder than the first one Prince hit. ... Just, pow."

That's sayin something considering he's been staring at Miggy for 5 years now.

Tigers win, Sox lose, and Weaver gave up 9 runs in 3+ innings.

Or staring aimlessly onto the diamond, not knowing where he is.

Sorry, had to be done...lmfao. No? Yes....

Tigers issue traffic tips for Saturday

The Lions are playing in Baltimore tonight, but Ford Field is going to be hopping this weekend for Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, who will be performing in concert in an event that begins at 4:30pm ET and is expected to run for most of the evening.

Put that traffic up with the Tigers game at 7:05 across the street, and you get the idea. The Tigers are estimating 85,000 people will be in attendance at two events separated by a two-lane street, so they issued a traffic advisory on Friday so fans could plan ahead.

If you?re driving downtown, the Olympia Development-owned parking lots east of Woodward Avenue will be reserved for fans attending the Tigers game. Fans will have to show a ticket or a parking pass, or they?ll need to have tickets waiting at will call. Tailgating in the lots will be prohibited in an effort to fit in as many fans as possible.

The Olympia Development-owned lots west of Woodward, on the other hand, are fair game for baseball fans and concert goers alike. Spots there will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Official scoring change: MLB has credited Avila with a triple in 4th inn on 8/17. Originally scored error on center fielder.

First Tigers game I went to in 15 years. I don't get back to MI very often anymore. My thoughts:

I think Verlander's secretly injured or tired.

New Comerica is ok. It's a huge field. New ballparks all look the same to me now.

Can't believe how fast these players are becoming. TV slows it down

Prince Fielder is 'on'. The kid is awesome. His second homer was a straight line shot. No curve on that tower to right whatsoever.

Peralta was out, but I'll take it.

Detroit has really had better days from an aesthetic frame of reference. wow.

I loved coming home. I miss MI badly some days
