Tigers vs. orioles Game Thread August 19

This team really isn't any fun to watch at all. They're just not. And I'm not saying that because we lost today.

Part of it is you can only really get excited when Cabrera or Fielder, and maybe Ajax are up to bat, the rest of the guys are just ho-hum lately.

2/3 of our linup are just depressing at times.

what was up with Fister today, lots of curves, no fastballs? due to early command problems? game plan, pitch selection?

Fister was a huge part of the problem but the problem is the Tigers had 6 innings to make up 2 freaking runs. Ugh I just want people to get cut, I just hate what this team stands for right now.

Tigers only 10-7 in august so far... We have 6 more on this home stand...

Hopefully the post-game remarks will clue us in. Somebody please post what is said for those of us out-of-market.

ump calles the strike on the breaking pitch and fister is out of the inning....shit was right down the middle. yet we get called strikes on 2 balls practically in the dirt (cabrera and infante). just another example of the human element ruining the game of baseball lol.

i almost want this team to fail so that DD is more motivated to fix some or all if our glaring holes in the offseason (lineup issues, defensive issues, mainly 2 corner OFs. wouldnt say no to a new ss either, one better on defense than peralta but not an offensive black hole either). i dunno who will be available though. we will need a new closer too, internal solution or not.

i just have a feeling that just making the playoffs will take too much pressure off when we REALLY need to fix this team.

I would like a SS with more range than Peralta, while he's fantastic on anything he gets to, I feel we give up a lot of hits up the middle that many SS's would get to.

But I agree on the OF, as far as I'm concerned, every outfielder we have can talk a walk but Ajax. I realize Dirks has been good, but he's not really proven yet.

We need 2 solid corner OF'ers as starters, let Boesch, Dirks, and Berry fight over the bench.

There are no good SS up for free agency so that would have to come from a trade. Outfield market doesnt look that good either, other than josh hamilton.

Probably a pipe dream, but I'd love us to sign Hamilton for LF, let Peralta and Young walk, trade Boesch/Berry/Porcello/etc. for a good defensive SS, and let Castellanos have a try at RF.

Could you imagine a lineup like this?

1. Jackson - CF
2. Hamilton - LF
3. Cabrera - 3B
4. Fielder - 1B
5. Martinez - DH
6. Avila - C
7. Castellanos/Dirks - RF
8. New SS
9. Infante - 2B

We'd be pretty solid defensively too since Jackson, Infante, Hamilton and the SS would be plus defenders.
