Nah I think DY could make a decent 6th hitter for the next few years... He's got pop when right.. He's certainly not a 3 hole hitter though so we both agree on that..
id rather have someone who can actually play defense and hit 2nd, like david dejesus.
I think the Tigers should go after a LFer in the offseason and put Delmon at RF.. If anything, he's got a top 5 arm in the MLB and could provide a lot of assists.. They should go after someone whom hits for contact and has plus range on defense.. Of course, we all hope they go after a starter and 1 or 2 infielders as well..

What about BB, did we forgot about him?

Depends on how healthy he is and I'm not certain he's a legit 3 hitter as well.. From what I've seen there are no infielders that are 3 hole hitters so I think we have to land a corner OFer for that spot.. Not to mention, BB has mediocre range at best.. I figured if you have Ajax and said LFer covering around 80% of the ground, you could have Delmon in RF getting his rocket arm put to use for throwouts at home..

Huh? You keep Delmon in left. He's a bad fielder with a great arm, that automatically says left field where he can do the least amount of harm and his arm can hold some guys at 3rd. Bosch is our Right fielder next year with Raburn and Dirks platooning.

We need a 2nd baseman who can hit leadoff! I'd also love a left handed starter! How about Mark Beuhrle?

From what I've seen, it seems like more flyballs are hit in right.. BUt you may be right, either way, you need to OFers with plus range and one with a plus arm.. I agree on a left handed starter and I think Danks could be available.. I would love to land him.. As for an IF, I'm not sure who's on the market other than Reyes, but then again, you would have to dedicate all the money you have available to him and would have to neglect fishing for other needs...

The point is BB is a starter. So is DY and the future mystery guy you want. I rather have. 2B.

In essence, BB and DY are somewhat the same player with BB having better range, and DY having a better arm.. BB certainly has had a better year as well before he got hurt..

David is not having a good this year in Oakland... may be worth a shot...236/ .321/ .373 /.694

Although Verlander did not take the loss in the game, it no doubt has negatively affected his (already slim?) chances for being voted league MVP, IMO. Justin not being able to notch his 25th win, vs a 90+ loss team AND being @ home in his last start of the season. Those two solos before and after notwithstanding, but they were the double cherries on top of and right below the shit-sundae second inning that he pitched in...oh well.

I wish the Tigers made a run at Frenchy..

But you're missing the point, BB, DY and Aj will all play 140 plus games. Assuming nothing goes wrong, an injury per say. So how do we add another FT OF?

I'm not missing the point at all.. I think one needs to go.. Personally I still think DY has more upside.. Use one as trade bait for an IFer..

I doubt they trade either. BB is here, IMO. And no doubt Leyland loves DY, I do too. He might not walk much but he can hit.

I agree that it probably won't happen, but BB has pretty high trade value and could probably net someone decent..

But then you're getting rid of a guy. Instead f worrying about an OF, by trading one I'd like a 2B, maybe even a 3B or a starter in case they decide Turner isn't ready. More important I think over an OF.

I said two posts ago to trade one for an Infielder.. Preferably 2b or 3b, or an elite defensive SS that could move Peralta to third..

Trade? We have like $20-30 million coming off the books don't we? Iltch wants to win before he checks out. I would not be surprised to see us spend this off season no matter what happens in the playoffs.

Raburn and Dirks are nothing more the a 4th outfielder...I would hate a outfield platoon of theses two..
I would much prefer Young and Boesch over either of them.. Young does not have a good arm by the way... Not even close...And his OBP is not suited for a number 3 hitter.. Maybe Boesch gets healthy and hits next year again... Magglio and Carlos are gone... Go get a really good second basemen as Santiago goes back to fill time utility mode... Not sure what they do with Inge and Wilson B. Inge has another year at 5.5 so we are stuck with both probably...

Peralta was signed on the premise he'd be a SS here. I don't want to piss him off. Plus, I remember when Arod, a great SS, struggled at 3rd for sometime once he made the switch. Not all SS play 3rd well. Keep him where he's at.
