Tigers - pirates Game Preview.
from blessyouboystigersblog

Max Scherzer had a career-high 15 strikeouts earlier this season in a start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He will have another crack at them today.
Scherzer (6-4, 5.17 ERA) will take the mound Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three-game series against the Pirates.
Scherzer allowed two runs on four hits and one walk in seven innings pitched May 20 in a start against Pittsburgh. He is 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA in five career appearances against the Pirates.
Scherzer has been away from the team the past two days for personal reasons.
Brennan Boesch is back in the starting lineup in right field. Quintin Berry, who started in right field Friday night in the series opener, is not in the starting lineup.
Right-hander Brad Lincoln (3-2, 3.82 ERA) will start for the Pirates. Just six Tigers players have faced Lincoln. Ramon Santiago (1-for-1), Jhonny Peralta (2-for-4) and Prince Fielder (1-for-5) have hits against him.

I'm tired of seeing Boesch and Young in the same lineup, start platooning them.

And sandwiching them between Cabrera and Fielder.

I don't understand why the fuck Leyland refuses to move Young, has he batted out of the 5th spot all year?

With other players he'll move them around, he even dropped Boesch for a while, but with Young if he plays, he's always penciled in to the 5th spot.

Hopefully they will both hit today... We need to get the sticks going...

6 of 7 MLB pitchers w/ 100 Ks have faced Pirates, going 6-0 with 1.40 ERA & 72 Ks in 45 IP. Next up, Tigers' Scherzer & Verlander Saturday and Sunday.

Miguel Cabrera hitless in his last 13 AB entering today, his 3rd hitless streak of 13+ AB in 2012. 1st time he's done that in his career.

No worries but Miggy is 0 for his last 13 in his last 3 games (Tiger offense has been non-existent in those 3 games) and hitting .263 for the month of June.

Beat me to it Kaline.

once Dirks is back, they can send Boesch to Toledo for all I care... maybe they'll teach him how to lay off high pitches and cut down on his swing with 2 strikes on him.
