Tigers Game Preview.

As expected, Prince Fielder gets the day at designated hitter. Don Kelly gets the start at first, with Miguel Cabrera staying at third. Ramon Santiago gets the start at second against righty Colby Lewis. The result is a lineup that alternates right- and left-handed batters before ending with a switch-hitter.

hooray, no inge or raburn!

also does anyone think that if wilk stumbles today, Below will move to the rotation? he's done nothing but throw up zeroes.

edit: wait, smyly is pitching today KC. wilk pitched thursday.

I thought about that too, but Leyland seems to want him as long man.

Can't argue with that he's done though, hope he can keep it up.

same, i just think that at some point he might be more useful in the rotation. either way i hope he keeps it up.

Sorry everybody...I was waiting extra long for the lineup, the 4 spots for it were unusally late, broke my train of thought,
Smyly is pitching today.

Leyland has stated he wants Below in the bullpen...
we see first hand how what he says, can change within a week or two.

Well no matter what happens today, we need to murder the Mariners in the next series, because after that we get the Yankees, in the Bronx.

Is we can go 15-7, or even 14 -8 for April, it will have been a good month, aside from June, which could be brutal, April would be our toughest month. 4 Playoff levels teams outside of our division this month.

We're still in pretty good shape, some people are starting to panic too soon.

I think Santiago should be the every day starter at 2B.

Santiago does nothing to improve a position we get terrible production out of.

If I was the GM, Worth and Santiago would split 2B, Raburn would be an OF Platoon guy against LHP, and Inge would be released outright, and he could go work for FSD or something.

Free Danny Worth! lol

I'd like to be able to see what he can do. Put him in 5 days a week but with Inge, Santiago and Raburn, since it's obvious Leyland wants DY in left, just no space. Even if Inge gets cut which is a long shot, how would he get playing time.

They need to cut Inge, DY at DH and Raburn (who I hate and should be cut himself) in LF. Worth at 2nd with Santiago as the backup.

Actually I would try to trade DY for a bullpen arm or 2 while he has value.

The longer they sit on him, the more of a rental he looks to be, he wont DH, plays terrible LF. But right now his number look okay on paper, move him asap.

i'm talking about the players the tigers have.

Okay Tom, but what does Santiago give you that Inge does not?

Both will barely hit .200, and play about the same defense. Ramon is not a solution to our problems at 2B.

If I know a ML player stinks, like our trio of slugs we throw out there, I'd just rather go with an unproven, like Worth, and see what he can do. Maybe he stinks too but give him a shot.

Inge hit below .200 last year....Santiago hit .260. Santiago will hit better than Inge this year as well. Santiago is also a better defensive player than Inge is. Santiago is not an every day player but he is a better option than Inge. It doesn't matter too much....the Tigers will trade for an every day 2B before the trade deadline.

But Ramon can play 3rd, SS, and 2nd base, he also will hit for a better avg than Inge. He has some sneaky power every once and awhile too.

I'd take .260 with him out of the 9 spot. Plus he can move guys over better than inge and keep an inning alive and I don't think he leads the MLB in check swing strike outs
