Tigers vs. rangers Game Thread April 22

Inge hit below .200 last year....Santiago hit .260. Santiago will hit better than Inge this year as well. Santiago is also a better defensive player than Inge is. Santiago is not an every day player but he is a better option than Inge. It doesn't matter too much....the Tigers will trade for an every day 2B before the trade deadline.

I doubt it. He didn't trade for a 2B before, why now? We haven't had a 2B since Polanco.

That's Ramon's numbers when he plays as a backup. If he was an everyday player, that average is going to drop. The guy has been a career backup for a reason.

I think Ramon is better suited for 2 games a week, maybe more if he's hot. But 5-6 games a week, I think Ramon struggles.

yep. and who knows, maybe worth ends up being the same. but theres only one way to find out, and we already know what we're getting from the rest of our 2B - crap. inge doesnt even play good defense anymore, so he's useless.

But Ramon can play 3rd, SS, and 2nd base, he also will hit for a better avg than Inge. He has some sneaky power every once and awhile too.

I'd take .260 with him out of the 9 spot. Plus he can move guys over better than inge and keep an inning alive and I don't think he leads the MLB in check swing strike outs

Like I said, he's a backup. And if he plays everyday, we have no backup SS.

And I doubt Ramon hits .260 in a full time role.

And go away with that "sneaky power" stuff Rod.

MR I is all in this year and next. If the Tigers are getting the same production out of 2B as they are now he will make a trade (if there is one out there).

The Lions' Matt Stafford in the building at Comerica today to throw out the first pitch before Tigers vs. Rangers game.

While I'm sure it will drop a little playing 150+ games but in '09 he played 93 games, '10 112 games and '11 he played 101 games. His average over those three years is .263. I think its safe to say hes about a .250 hitter compaired to Inge and his .224 average over those 3 years. Plus Santiago doesn't strike out as much as our much as the fan favorite

It's a grass is greener kinda thing. Raburn, Inge, Santiago or Worth are not everyday secondbaseman and all have significant shortcomings.

Lions QB Matthew Stafford fired a strike on his ceremonial 1st pitch.

2009 Ramon only STARTED 73 games.
2010 Ramon only STARTED 79 games.
2011 Ramon only STARTED 62 games.

All those other things you're counting are games where he either PH, or was a defensive replacement.

So like I said, he's a backup for a reason. Only 1 time in his career has he started more then half a seasons games, 2003, in which he hit .225 :lmao:
