Tigers vs. rays Game Thread August 22

Another reason why the save is a retarded stat. People are freaking out over bringing a guy in with a 4 run lead, and would cry bloody murder if he didn't come in with a 3 run lead.

Is that the least bit logical?

It is if it effects how the pitcher performs, which it clearly does.

f'n Leyland, insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different result. Valverde is good at struggling in non/save situations.
just get this last out Jose.

By all means let's bring the tying run to the plate. GAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!

no logic either side, it's just Valverde is a different pitcher coming in in a non save, stats and his pitching show that.

[quote="biggunsbob":q78anymp]Is David Pauley sick or hurt? His last game was on August 14th.

He barely pitches. [/quote:q78anymp]

Why not use hie for crying out load.. Jose will not be able to go on Tuesday now. Bring in a mop up guy and if he gets in trouble pull him for Jose.. it makes no sense after his recent struggles..

What ever happened to Valverde's splitter(or fork ball, whatever he calls it)? Seems like the only thing he throws these days is fastballs
