Man, as a fortysomething whose favorite player ever is George Brett and who remembers when the Royals were good year after year after year, I just hate what they've become.

I mean, I love it tonight, we really need a win, but just once I'd like to see them rattle off a 90-72 season.

If someone asked me to describe Rick Porcello as a pitcher right now, I'd honestly say, "almost great". We see glimpses of how efficient and good he can be, but he's just not able to do it every game right now and gets shelled occasionally, but he's almost there. You see that this kid has a very high ceiling and he's getting there. If he makes that next step you have a guy who could win 15-20 games for the next 10 years. He's almost great, but there's a lot of guys who are almost great and never do much of anything.

At this point I'd be surprised if Porcello doesn't have a very good 5 year stretch starting now.
