KalineCountry[/color]]Tigers' Doug Fister, Yankees' Ivan Nova set for relief appearances when Game 1 resumes.
Doug Fister and Ivan Nova will make relief appearances tonight. But it won't seem that way.
Fister and Nova will be on the mound tonight when the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees resume Game 1 of the American League Division Series. The game was suspended due to rain Friday night with the game tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the second inning.
Game 1 is set to resume at 8:37 p.m. There is some rain in the forecast.
Fister is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees. He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in one start this season against New York.
Nova has made just one appearance against the Tigers. He pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen against Detroit during the 2010 season.
Jorge Posada will lead off the bottom of the second against Fister when the game resumes. Jhonny Peralta, Brandon Inge and Austin Jackson are due up for the Tigers in the top of the third inning.
Mlive
I think that it really stinks that the Tigers had to bat in that deluge during the top of the second inning, the gawddamn umps waited a little
too long to stop the game, when they should have done so @ the end of the first inning, IMO.
Detroit sports teams over the past several years seem to be increasingly getting the short end of the "yardstick" by umpires/referees, and they are being treated like the "Rodney Dangerfields" of MLB and NFL, IMO, maybe not so much in the NHL, but perhaps someone who has been able to watch the Red Wings play on Versus (I haven't been able to afford even basic cable TV in almost 4 years now) may post otherwise.
