Tigers vs. yankees Game Thread June 2

Berry wasn't actually out though.

Yeah, but it was still too close to catch with the naked eye.

We didn't get ****ed on that call, needed super slo-mo to tell, that's a mistake by an Ump I can forgive, the Granderson call was more obvious though.

And he got caught leaning the wrong way, out or safe.

ZonieTiger/PF The MLB Gameday link in the opening post is good, you ever try that one.

I have & you're right, KC. Just logged into the espn one & it appeared ok for a while, then at the end I saw no updates. Had no idea Santiago walked let alone know that Omar the Tent-maker won it big time. All and all, a much needed win.

Usually the tie goes to the runner, regardless it didn't change the outcome of the game. Cabrera thinking he was Berry did though. Could have had a 4-2 lead in the 9th, possibly more runs.

The first one was the farthest I've ever seen a ball go. He looked effortless doing it as well.

In cool, damp air too.

It's not like hitting in 90 degree temps when the ball goes like a rocket. *cough*Hamilton*cough*

There is no tie goes to the runner in MLB Buddy, this is not little league.

A player is safe or he's out, Ump has to decide.

I'm sorry Thumb, what exactly did Grandy do or not do? Read earlier about some controversy but couldn't tell what had happened. You mean another umpiring crew tried to hose us? Hard to believe.

Not.

Not.

Grandy was stealing second the throw was offline but he tagged him on the back of the leg on a head first slide before Grandy got his hand on the bag. They called him safe.

espn was marveling at Miggy's home runs. They also said the 1st homer went 466 feet.

None of the calls today were really horrible, not compared to what we're used to.

Granderson looked out, but because the tag was away from the bag on his leg, he prolly looked like he made it to the Ump.

Maybe the strike call that got Long and Girardi ejected though.

I'm aware, but when it is that close, the call usually goes to the runner. Look at the Granderson steal tonight, the play was close, so he got the call even though he was out.

TY. Funny thing this umpiring as of late...cannot imagine said scene if one mr CG were wearing a Tiger and not NYY uni. Sorry, this season has left me quite jaded as it comes to umpires. I know, I know, the umpires didn't cause our injuries and they aren't the ones not hitting in tight situations, but you get the feeling that we would have won 3 games if proper calls were made, meaning 3 less loses, meaning a season record of 28-25, not 25-28, meaning: we'd be behind ChiSox by 2 & Cleveland by 1/2. If we lose out to someone by a game or two come the end of September I'll be quite pissed, of course. And so will JL and DD, as each will likely take the ziggy. Won't be justified, but that's show biz for you.

Right, what I'm saying is the Umpires don't just say "Oh it's close I didn't see well, I'll give to the runner". Every person who see's a play makes a first reaction safe or out, to be honest I thought he was out until the replay.

But I thought Granderson was out too.

Bottom line, that's a learning experience for Berry, he can't let it be that close.

Between them we have quite a CFer this year: Announcing Quintin Austin JackBerry: He's played 47 of the 53 games thus far, hitting .339, scoring 40 runs, 62 hits in 183 AB's, 13 doubles, 4 triples, 5 HRs, 12 SB's (zero caught), 24 walks. OK, QA JackBerry has K'd 45 times, but he has more than made up for it in great fielding and timely hits!

What Cabrera did tonight was legendary. Hits a 466 foot bomb, then he makes a base running mistake and you can just tell he's really pissed about it, he gets up again and makes amends with a 444 foot bomb. Just unreal, 910 feet on the pair of homers and his double was on a rope to left center too. On National TV too.

Anyone else notice that he's back to having the confidence to pick that front foot up before he swings now? He's on pace for .323, 134 RBIs, and 34 HRs.

Those numbers are looking good for Miguel. He's smokin. And I love how he gets the water, lol.

I keep thinking that second one was further than the 1st, looked that way anyway. As for the no stride I think he uses that against the 95+ plus guys give or take. I'll try to remember to look next time he's up against a heater arm to see if he's completely stopped with that now or not.

and that RBI total is out of the 3-hole too. imagine what he could do 4th with more runners on ahead of him.
