I posted this, this Saturday mooring on the old E board. Thought it would it would be a good thread here .
The rumor is the Giant's are thinking about payroll and who to keep and who goes!

This would require a trade. What the Giant's need is offense and replacement of Lincecum in the rotation, IE better than a 5th starter. at this point I would consider trading Porcello in a package. Right now Depth Chart on Sports.Yahoo.com, shows no one at right field. Tigers have a few outfielders with MLB experience. Inge ,CF he can go, Kelly, LF<RF<CF hate to lose him,as he plays infield as well, Raburn, play everywhere, should be in the NL anyway,IMHO, good bat 2nd half?!,Strieby?, Would put Huff and puff back in right then, unless Rayn could play it. Thomas can play OF,Dirks Really would hate to lose him!,Jackson? Dirks or Thomas would have to play Center,or cough, cough, cough Inge, cough!!!! Not sure trade would work for Tigers in that case! Young could be a player that the Giant's could used. Boesch?, hum, I'm still holding to he will make an everyday player, his power is needed in this lineup, He had a bad 2nd half in 2010 an injury in 2nd half 2011, But the up side is still there IMO.

All said and done there are a couple in there, should the Giants take I would jump for joy. and a couple that would make me wonder about. But the Tigers do have a few to chose from in such a trade with the Giants.

This goes to show that DD has been doing and getting better farm players lately.

Remember, Tigers got a good trades out of Joyce, Wells and Maybin as well. Au Tigers got pitching in all those trades, cough ,cough, Willis, cough,O YEA , got CABRERA , for Maybin in that one.

So a trade of an outfielder/pitcher for a pitcher is not an unreal deal. Throw some money in the deal as well and lets trade.Anyway you look at it, It is something to think/talk/post about until something happens.

...more

Giants won't take Inge. Kelly and/or Raburn would be throw ins. They'd have to give up Turner as the starting point. Then, what offensive player would go? Cabrera? no. Peralta? They would not take him for Lincecum. Avila? Maybe as a package. Jackson? Maybe in a package. Boesch? maybe in a package. The Tigers would have to surrender too much to get him.

this trade and the players you want to give up is some kind of wishful thinking of a fantasy that will never come true

I would do Turner and Avila for him. I think that Avila is probably at a high point right now. He is 24 (I think) and he is already getting sore knees. I know that he is a catcher and that happens, but he seems very young to be so sore.

On second thought SF already has a good young catcher that they love. Boesch and Turner it is.

and what else? That is not going to get Lincecum.

I'm not a big Lincecum fan. Somehow I think he's a big injury waiting to happen. And I'm also not big on trading a lot for NL pitcher.

Let's see, what the market value is. The M's sent Cliff Lee and reliever Mark Lowe to Texas for first baseman Justin Smoak and minor leaguers Blake Beavan, Josh Lueke and Matthew Lawson.

Yeah, I will throw in a box of balls and inge if they will take him

Somehow I think they would prefer the box of balls and no Inge than put them together.

Apples and Oranges. Completely different situations. Lee was going to be a FA and it was trade him while you can.

If you say so Ty. How about you provide a better example instead of talking bull shit.

Getting a little testy. Always the sign someone is losing an argument.

No it is a lack of respect toward your opinion. Apples and oranges is not an argument. It is "I don't like your example, but I refuse to show you a better one".

No. It's lack of coherent argument demonstrating that you did not read the post and could not come up with a decent rebutal leading to a testy remark.

No it is BRING SOME FACTS. Stop talking out of your apple and oranges ass. If you want a discussion then you say. "I think that this is a better example of what the trade value would be". Then you present your example. Where is your example? Since you have not provided one, I do not see any reason to try to defend anything that I wrote vs. some idea that you pulled out of your ass.

I think being a FA to be is a reason and might be why he got less. Of course thats just me.

Not pulling anything. I will reiterate slowly so you can process. Lee...Free Agent....M's had to trade or lose him. Lincecum...Not free agent...Giants not going to lose him....they can hold out for a ransom....up to speed? Have you caught up with the rest of the class or do I need to explain more slowly?

I remember when Jr Griffey was traded. Only wanted to go to Cincy and everyone knew it so Seattle wasn't going to get a good deal for him.

So Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin was a kings ransom for Cabrera? Ok, thank you for the lesson on trades.

I think at the time everyone thought so. Plus with Florida, it was win a WS trade talent for younger and cheaper.

Took awhile for you to develop some sort of rebutal...weak one that it was. When has San Fran made such a deal involving major players? Do the Tigers have two highly rated prospects to trade for Lincecum? Is Cabrera a multiple Cy Young Award Winner?
