So Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin was a kings ransom for Cabrera? Ok, thank you for the lesson on trades.

Took awhile for you to develop some sort of rebutal...weak one that it was. When has San Fran made such a deal involving major players? Do the Tigers have two highly rated prospects to trade for Lincecum? Is Cabrera a multiple Cy Young Award Winner?

If they are looking to move him and they want offense NOW. Then why would they want prospects?

I think at the time everyone thought so. Plus with Florida, it was win a WS trade talent for younger and cheaper.

I don't think so. Cabrera was already established as one of the top 10 players in baseball. They were getting a pitcher and a 19 year old minor leaguer. They were moving money just like SF is trying to do.

Then what do the Tigers have to offer? They'd have to surrender Turner, Boesch, Avila, and probably another player to get him.

I think that was my point. Lol. But Florida is famous for fire sales. Maybe Lincecum will be cheaper than I expect. But I think he'll go for a kings ranson.

I don't think that he will get that much. Umbaldo Jemenez got two minor league pitchers from cleveland and that was a kings ransom. I think that Boech and Turner would do it, maybe you throw in a minor leaguer. Maybe we could do a three way and trade turner for a good hitting prospect or Avila for a hitter at a different position. I don't think that they can get three high caliber players for him. Example please.

Another thing that you are overlooking is that we are not in a pennant race. Don't you think that drives the price up a little bit? Win at all cost

Teams ran from Ubaldo b/c he was not pitching like he did b4 the ASG in 2010.

Seaver was traded for four players. Randy Johnson was traded for Freddy Garcia, Carlos Guillen, and John Halama. These three were top prospects at the time. Halladay was traded for three players as well. Drabek, d'Arnaud (#36 rated prospect in 2011), and Taylor (now with A's). Turner would have to be part of the package. The Tigers don't really have anything else in the minors to trade unless the Giants were willing to take whatever. I also was glancing through the Giants transaction history and they have not really been ones to make big deals. Last big deal, unless I missed one, was Jason Schmidt in 2001.

The Milwaukee Brewers are going all in for 2011, acquiring former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals announced Sunday that they acquired shortstop Alcides Escobar, outfielder Lorenzo Cain and right-handed pitching prospects Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress from the Brewers in exchange for Greinke, shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt and cash considerations.

Escobar flopped before the trade, Cain isn't highly touted, and Odorizzi wasn't rated as highly as Turner. I think that Greinke was under contract. Kings Ransom? I think that KC got a lot, but I think that Turner and Boesch is probably more valuable.

I agree that BB and JT would be more valuable, but I am not sure it would be enough to get Lincecum. KC got 4 players. Who else can the Tigers throw in? Sure player 4 can be a throw in, but they would probably need at least one more player that is at least mid-range...not seeing it. Also, why not just go for Buerhle if you don't want JT to be #5.

I have no problem getting Buerle. But, I think that Turner is probably at peak trade value right now. He is injury free, he hasn't been bombed in the majors yet. Look at where Porcello is right now. He was ranked higher than Turner as a prospect and now Turner probably has more trade value. We are hoping that one day, 5 years from now, Turner might be a lincecum. I would pull the trigger for the established superstars for prospects everytime. If we can get a Verlander, Lincecum 1,2 punch for the playoffs it would be hard to beat.

Not pulling anything. I will reiterate slowly so you can process. Lee...Free Agent....M's had to trade or lose him. Lincecum...Not free agent...Giants not going to lose him....they can hold out for a ransom....up to speed? Have you caught up with the rest of the class or do I need to explain more slowly?

So Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin was a kings ransom for Cabrera? Ok, thank you for the lesson on trades.
Maybon and Miller were both top 10 prospects at the time. I would trade Turner in a millisecond for him. With prospects they could be anything but if you can get a improvement do it.

If Barry Zito weren't the millstone around the Giants' neck, this thread would not exist. If the Giants traded Lincecum for Turner and Boesch, Giants' fans would revolt.

I would do Turner and Avila for him. I think that Avila is probably at a high point right now. He is 24 (I think) and he is already getting sore knees. I know that he is a catcher and that happens, but he seems very young to be so sore.

On second thought SF already has a good young catcher that they love. Boesch and Turner it is.

and what else? That is not going to get Lincecum.
TUrner and Avila would be more than enough to get Lincecum.. Avila is one of the highest trade commodities in the MLB.. 24 year old lefty power bat that catches everyday.. Sorry those don't grow on trees..

With that said no thanks.. Only pitcher I want out of the NL is Kershaw and yes, we don't have jack that's equal value to him..

And what happens to Buster Posey?

You know what, I didn't even think about Posey.. Good point, but if they did not have a stud catcher as well, Avila + Turner would be more than enough for Lincecum.. With that said, I don't think Turner + Boesch is enough but then again I'm not sure he would be as successful in the AL.. Hell, it could be another Peavy situation..

Halliday, Lee or Hamels aren't good enough to pitch for the Tigers? Not Matt Cain, Matt Garza or Ian Kennedy?

The player I'd love to have is Madison Bumgarner. Not over Kershaw, but he's not going anywhere.
