Today's example of Christians behaving badly

Mistake blaming their actions on Christians behaving badly and not just ignorant people behaving badly - has almost nothing or very little to do with them being Christian.

Hope you aren't including yourself amongst that group of atheists that are often better Christians, as I would beg to differ.

Funny nobody wants to make that argument if you replaced the word "Christian" with the word "Muslim".

jesus h. christ... yes I missed that. but i was kinda hoping to keep this thread a little light-hearted and silly and so exlude the REALLY awful shit Christians do regularly. I mean, the msg board is still supposed to be fun to visit.

So Christians shoot you in the eye and Islamic Extremists chop your head off ...

Yeah, I know, we have so many posts in this thread about Muslims behaving badly.

Was there a point in your posted response to me other than to cast more shame on ignorant people?

Maybe you are trying to project your own proclivity for prejudice against a religion onto me, maybe in an attempt to bait me into an argument about Muslim terrorists?

Fail.

You missing an eye?

. . . or maybe you have tons of citations where Christian eye shooting is happening? Ohh, I get it, you were trying to make a funny about the "eye for an eye" clich?? The one that came from the code of Hammurabi, and espoused in the Old Testament.

I go more for the New Testament - "You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."

. . . or maybe like Thumbster, your aim is argue about prejudice against Islam?

I made a comment about ignorant people who do shameful things - I know three people responding to me on this thread that fit that first part of that statement.

Nope.

I was simply pointing out how when it's a Christian doing terrible things, in the name of a Christian God, people want to instantly deflect the religious aspect. It's terrible people doing terrible things, not terrible Christians.

But when the shoe is on the other foot, most people have no problem blaming the religion just as much as the person.

Fuck Islam.

Well I am certainly not most people. This thread has nothing to do with Islam that I can see. You won't find a single case of me blaming Islam for any of the Islamic terrorism.

But to give you an answer, most of the crap posted in this forum is not people doing things in the name of a Christian God, but ignorant people doing some terrible things, and most certainly not because the recipient is non-Christian.

If you want to compare the two, go ahead, but isn't it also a matter of degree? Are you really comparing forcing a child to use their right hand to beheading someone just because they are Christian? Are they close in your mind?

If so, I got nothing else for ya. It would be stupid to continue - you are too far gone.

See the last 2 links posted.

today's example: Christian man makes like he's giving his waiter (a hard-working 17-year-old kid) a $20, which turns out to be a fake bill with a Christian message printed on it.

hey, that's actually a pretty nifty trick!

step one: buy something
step two: tell the seller/server your religious message is more valuable than money (and split before they catch on)
step three: keep money for yourself. score!

what kind of a shit hole restaurant does he work at?

"Wayman, who says he doesn't even take weekends off as he works to pay off the $7,000 owed on his car, was excited because he had never seen a tip of that size left in the restaurant."

I'd eat there. I bet it's a good burger.

I like this place. Y'all are a bunch of restaurant snobs.

29 Five star reviews and nothing else. Not even a single 4.

It's not the restaurant; the place looks good.

Looks like a place Guy Fieri would visit.

I'm not a restaurant snob, I'm a full on snob.

Pigs would fly before I would be in Mulvane Kansas.

Pigs probably do fly there.

Would it help their cause if they had a casino?

I'm about an hour and a half drive from Indian casinos like that one in Santa Barbara, San Diego and Palm Springs.

I'm four hours from Vegas and six hours from Lake Tahoe where we have a family condo in Incline Village.

So no.

That said, I go to divey but tasty little places like the Mulvane DK right in the area where I live all the time.

Yeah. I'm not going there either. I just thought "shithole" painted the wrong picture.
