tOfficial MICHIGAN v Vanderbilt Series Thread

I hope not. If this is the case, then why not start Rocker in game 1 and tonight's pitcher in game 2, or vice versa, and end this series in game 2 rather than chancing a game 3?

I think they were doing the same as Michigan. Pitching their guys in their normal rotation with off days. I am sure Rocker pitches early in the College was and they didn?t want him on short rest just like Eric didn?t want to pitch Karl. We would have to go back and look when they started.

Looking for the positives from last night's game, even with the second tier pitching Vandy only got 6 hits. Michigan had 4 hits facing Vandy's best pitching. Two of the 4 runs Vandy scored were on pitches that were in the dirt and skipped away from the catcher. So, it was not like Vandy put together a bunch of hits to score those 4 runs. Yes, Michigan still loses 2-1, but the score is not as bad as it looks. Michigan's 7-4 win the previous game was more impressive (Michigan had 14 hits to Vandy's 7) and I think more indicative of the abilities of this Michigan team of ours.

"Bakich said he hasn?t decided on Wednesday?s batting order, but it will be either senior Miles Lewis, junior Dominic Clementi or freshman Riley Bertram to serve as the DH against Vanderbilt?s probable starter, righty Mason Hickman."

"Bakich said he is leaning toward starting Bertram, who is batting .400 in 17 at-bats. The shortstop has seven hits in 13 at-bats during the NCAA Tournament."

Nwogu tweet

Thank you to everyone for the prayers and good wishes! I?ll be fine. One man goes down and it?s the next man up. I?m gonna be the best cheerleader I can be for my team tomorrow. Let?s bring this thing home. Go blue!

The at bats that we’ve all seen Bertram have lately when he came in as a substitute, he seems to be a better contact hitter than Nwogu.

Yes.

He was at shortstop for the injured a Blomgren and also at second for the injured Thomas.

That kid should have never been benched. He has an ice cold demeanor at the plate. Some of hits came with an 0-2 count. The 0-2 count has been very generous to this team in the tournament.

PLEASE GOD LET THE MICHIGAN WOLVERINES WIN THE COLLEGE BASEBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT........PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don?t think it?s considered being benched if you?ve stepped up for an injured player recovers.

Anyway it appears like he is likely not only off the bench but will be the first hitter in the ball game.

Benched to me, means not playing. Because when your're not playing, you're sitting on the bench. ;)

It's too bad that Michigan has to play against Vanderbilt's best pitcher tonight

Vanderbilt is so awesome, they have 3 best.

Well it?s a free country, and you?re perfectly entitled to look at it that way if you like, but I think commonly the term ?benched? implies one is taken from the regular line up and sat down for disciplinary reasons or lack of performance.

I don?t think going back to the bench after one comes off the bench as an injury substitute for a regular player is thought of the same as being benched by most observers.
