Detroit Tigers Trade Rumors: Twins, Dodgers interested in Tigers? arms.
MCBTB

Jon Morosi:
Dodgers showing continued interest in #Tigers closer Shane Greene, sources say. @anthonyfenech initially reported the Dodgers had inquired on him.

As reported by MLB.com?s Jon Paul Morosi on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to show interest in Shane Greene. Although with his similarities to current Dodger reliever Joe Kelly, Morosi points out, LA might be somewhat hesitant to add Greene to the bullpen.

Jason Beck of MLB.com reports that the Dodgers, along with the Yankees, Braves, Rays, and Reds all had scouts in attendance at Thursday night?s game between the Indians and Detroit Tigers in Cleveland. With Matthew Boyd starting on the mound for the Tigers, the scouts may have been there to take a look at Cleveland?s starter, Trevor Bauer, as well.

Back to Jon Paul Morosi, the MLB.com reporter also hints at the fact that Detroit could look within the AL Central as the Twins have interest Boyd and Greene. Morosi brings up that the Tigers would most likely ask for a very hefty return, especially for Boyd, from Minnesota in order to send one or both of the team?s top arms to a club within the division.

Tigers s/b buyers, just in an attempt to avoid an increasingly likely rendezvous with historic infamy @ the end of of this season.

We will soon learn whether or not that even matters to Chris Ilitch by the trade deadline, b/c he must know that if his FO manages to offload Greene and/or Boyd, and/or Castellanos, then the odds of finishing the season with 119+ losses becomes MUCH more likely.

The Tiger have me so soured on baseball right now. Michigan team exited me for a few days but I watched a few innings the other day and this Franchise is probably at least 5-7 years away from a .500 record sadly. So frustrating the Tigers have to go through years of a rebuild. It should not be like this! We need better owners, who give a rats ass. We need a better Gm!

It IS at least 5 years away from becoming merely competitive, b/c although the organization continues to tout its stable of young pitching prospects, the FACT is that their positional prospects lag woefully behind in ability and number. This may prompt them to delay starting some of their major-league clocks by a year or two, so to better match up with future positional players' timelines. Too bad that they are so piss-poor @ player/pitcher development, that it might not matter if they do so anyway.

Ilitch is also VERY unlikely to plug the gaps with anything better than one-season FA signings of non-descript fringe positional players and RPs, with the continued idea that one or two, or better still, more might perform well enough to be traded and flipped for more prospects near the yearly trade-deadlines.

Stop thinking that any of you know how long it'll take to turn it around. Last time they were this bad they played in a world series 3 years later. They are way better in the minors than at that time.

Top 25 players over 26

2019 = 18

2003 = 7

Huge, huge difference. They are starting at different levels. 2003 had their prospects at the MLB level learning. 2019 has over-the-hill veterans and AAAA players.

According to hearsay purveyed by the MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the Tigers have been indicating to interested teams that they will be seeking an “established young MLB star” in any potential deal involving starter Matthew Boyd (Twitter link).

Looks like Boyd isn't going anywhere. Nobody is going to give up "an established young MLB star" for Boyd.

Still there's no guarantee. Maybe they get lucky on some prospects or they decided to up the payroll, get some JD luck etc. The point was saying "it's going to be 5 years or 8 years etc." is just a guess at this point. Even with all your data it's just a guess.

As he mentions "It?s a sellers market, Boyd has big K/BB rate (6.67, tops in AL) and 3 more years before free agency." You only need one. I suspect 'star' is relative. Knowing Avila, star might not mean the same to him as it does for us.

With that being said I have no problem keeping Boyd for another year or 3. If he doesn't have any trade value like others seem to think what's the point in trading him?

I agree. If he pitches the same way next year he will still be a tradable asset.

It is a guess, but an educated guess. Any other guess is based on miracles. Yes, miracles can happen. But comparing the two teams are vastly different in your starting point.

2003 players on 2006 team and their age in (2003)

Inge (26)
Infante (21)
Santiago (23)
Monroe (26)
Bonderman (20)
Robertson (25)
Maroth (25)
Rodney (26)
Ledezma (22)
Walker (30)

9 of the 10 are 26 or under

2019 players 26 or under who are going to probably still be playing in 2022 with DET or MLB.

Candelario (25)
Stewart (25)
Turnbull (26)
Jimenez (24)

And yes, DET traded for Guillen and Polanco for next to nothing.

If Stewie is still in MLB by '22, he should be a 1B/DH/PH b/c he has a wet noodle for an arm.

The Nats are seeking a controllable reliever at the Deadline. Among the relievers they?ve checked in on: Tigers? RHP Shane Greene, Giants? RHP Sam Dyson and Royals? LHP Jake Diekman.

Tigers are believed to have asked for Nationals top prospect Carter Kieboom in a Shane Greene trade.
