Valverde shit the bed again

Papa will come back down to earth in 2012. Only way he repeats 2011 is by selling his soul - which he may have already done in 2011.

My prediction for Valverde in 2012.
35 saves
seven blown saves.

Tigers will use Papa Grande less in the 2nd half. May even move him by July 31st.

Verlander is my fantasy pitcher... Big potato wanted to screw Bob... That is all it was... Jose will be fine but we all know he can be let us say exciting...

I predict Valverde to go 1-30 with 3 saves and 36 blown saves this year. He was that terrible today, right?

...right?

Jesus, people, it's one game and we WON. Stop with your Chicken Little garbage.

I don't throw Valverde garbage Greg. I just threw-out a reality check. He's human and will show his human-side in 2012. He had a special season in 2011. So did Hernandez in 1984.

Wow. Just wow.

We're going to stop using and even trade the only Closer we have, who is coincidentally one of the best closers in all of MLB?

Oh yea, maybe Schlereth or Dotel can close for us.

^^ See I can say retarded things too.

I can only imagine some of the idiotic stuff some people would be suggesting if we had lost today.

I was talking about the panicky "THE SKY IS FALLING" people, namely the OP.

The only idiotic thing I read here in the past day was mention that Valverde is Detroit's ONLY option as closer.

He may be used by Leyland as being the only option. But that doesn't mean he IS the only option.

Don't confuse me with being a Valverde disliker. I'm just forwarding something that says he will look more like Todd Jones in 2012 than 2011 Valverde.

MLB history backs me on this statement. Mariano Rivera he is NOT.

Hey what if what's his name, the little skinny leadoff hitter, drives in the winning run in the 9th in 162 games and leads the league in RBI with 162 and the Tigers go 162 and 0?

What will all you naysayers say then?

I'll say the Tigers underachieved because they were always tied with the opposition in the 9th inning.

3 types of baseball people.

Positive all the time.
Half glass full, bitch a little bit but end of the day are still happy their team won.
Glass is completely empty, will bitch and keep on bitching regardless if the team you root for keeps on winning and gets to the WS (you'll find something).

I've found that there's acceptable players to complain about and unacceptable ones. If a poster was critical of Inge, Raburn, Delmon, Coke or Jackson, then that is perfectly fine. But if a poster was critical of Porcello, Valverde, Peralta or Boesch, that is not fine. I don't know why that is, but I've noticed it here and at the old ESPN board.

I like to think I'm objective enough to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of all the Tigers. I think it's OK to discuss the limitations of Valverde, but still appreciate that he's been very good for the Tigers. Just as it's OK to admit that Raburn can be a valuable player while recognizing that he's not a star or a perfect player.

I agree Jim.
I have not been critical -- just a realist.
MLB agrees with me, every time we see a different name attached to various MLB Awards every year.

None of the players win Cy Youngs / MVPS.... etc... every year. Same with relievers and their fireman awards. All have that special season - then slide a bit... some more than others.

Personally-speaking. I'll be happy with Valverde showing a human side once in a while. Hopefully it's not more than 1-2 times a month.

I remember last year someone bitching because Miguel had a bad game. Best player in the game and someone is bitching about him..

Sky is falling? Not quite. I just stated he about blew it yesterday continuing his shitty playoff performance. AL Central is Detroit's to lose this year and the bullpen (mid, setup and close) is the weakest part of this team. First game or 40th--one hate's to see such mastery effed up like that in the ninth. Yes, it happens.

Well, that would be one way of looking at it.

what were his numbers in playoffs? Im not asking rhetorically. I dont know what they were. I remember him getting crushed

I think the point you were making is that because he finished badly, playoffs, he didn't have the great year we think he had. But JV and Miguel finished badly and Santiago and Inge were superstars.

You need to separate reg. season and playoffs. The Big Potato had a hell of a season last season, it doesn't get taken away because of the playoffs or otherwise you take way JV's and Miguel's superstars seasons.

Was I wrong or was this what you were thinking?
