Veras

For Danry Vasquez and player to be named. Don't like the move

What's not to like? Gives the Tigers another good arm in the BP. He wasn't brought in to be the closer. He may be called upon to be the closer next year but that is next year.

Can't believe Vasquez is all it took, hardly a chink in the armor as far as our prospect depth is concerned. If the player to be named later is a no name, seems great to me.

Would have rather sent a pitching prospect instead of one of our best hitting prospects

he is a 19 year old OF that is probably at least 3 years away from getting to the ML. With these guys there is a great chance they will never make it.

One of the the best? Come' on.

Danry Vasquez doesn't even project to be a good AAA hitter. He rarely walks, doesn't hit for power and is a liability trying to steal bases.

Why? Our offensive prospects have more depth. We have a couple ML ready outfielders in triple A anyway. To get a reliever with admirable numbers and closing experience for a guy still in single A seems like a good deal to me.

I imagine that Veras is smiling. We'll see if this becomes a repeat of Bagwell for Anderson, as the OP seems to be indicating.

Veras hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 11 outings. Looks like we got him at a good time.

Well, maybe I'm wrong. I thought if anyone would back me up on this it would be Reb. I thought if we sent a Briceno or Mercedes it would be better. Vasquez is supposed to be our top hitting prospect behind Castellanos and Garcia. I just don't like giving up much for the bullpen

I am ok with the deal.. For the 6 rated prospect... Who knows and who cares as long as it is not a prospect not named Nick or the other guy...

I really like the deal. We added a good BP arm and kept our top prospects and roster intact. Pretty sure Veras has a cheap option for 2014 as well.

I like the deal. He has been pitching well for the worst team in the AL. I don't think we gave up much. We are in a win now situation and we needed some help in the pen. This is a small move that could pay off huge.

good move, experienced reliever with a club option for next year if we want him. we are overstocked when it comes to minor league outfielders.

over 1k per inning, 3/1 k bb ratio, .585 OPS against in a good offensive division. didn't have the luxury of facing Astros hitters either!

This is EXACTLY what I've been saying to the "you don't trade for a reliever straight up" guys! Love the move!

A ton of walks the previous two years, hopefully he doesn't lose the control he seems to have found this year.

It's a trade. I can't say whether it's a good one or not until it pans out.

There is one fact. Veras has the ability to positivly impact the team this year and next. There is no way that the player that was traded away will be able to help this team on the field over the next 2 seasons.
