My opinion is that they have some talent, that's obvious, but the team as a whole is not talented.

Get StartedThe coaching is unknown at best...calling it bad or great is just guessing. Two first-time NFL coordinators and a head coach with 2 years of NFL HC experience, one year with the best QB in the game, the other year involved management tanking the season.
You can see their plan and style and leadership ability. Caldwell is proven good in this league. Lombardi and Austin were great hires. It will put us over the top.
Completely agree....I actually hate my 10-6 prediction for this team cause im giving both coordinators a TON of credit and don't know if they can pull it off. The defense lacks talent....so Austin gets a huge amount of credit if he helps this team get to 10 wins. Stafford was a dumster fire by the end of last season. If Lombardi gets Stafford where he needs to be to lead this team to 10 wins it will be a job well done. New offense with new weapons for a cord that's never had a playbook or called plays before....a lot for a qb and a cord to take in.
So their playbooks and personell aside....we still don't know how they are at making in game adjustments....which is about 90% of whether you win or lose.
IF they get Stafford where they need to be, honestly, I feel the team should be more around 12 wins. They were tied or in the lead of ALL but ONE game heading into the 4th last year.
That is insane. IF the coaching is better... IF the Lions cut down the stupid shit from last year... I think they'll surprise the entire NFL.
Biggest problem though, is everything is a HUGE if.
Well that's why I asked the question. Does he really believe we had a better defense than the 49ers or seahawks? Or is he just posting that stuff to get a reaction from the other posters?
UM, LKP would try to sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves.
Tony, no one here is bitching that they added him. What the issue here is that the guy who started this thread is making him out to be an upper-eschelon CB, through his comparisons to Joe Haden, and saying that him and Mathis are one of the best CB duos per PFF, even going as far to compare them to Seattle's CBs, and Patrick Peterson. Did you expect us to not call him out for those ridiculous statements?
Fine, veteran CB who's going to get some spot duty. Cool. But let's not make him out to be like he's going to be some big impact player. He's a 33 year old journeyman that was added a few days before the pre-season.
