Welcome Back

My opinion is that they have some talent, that's obvious, but the team as a whole is not talented.

The coaching is unknown at best...calling it bad or great is just guessing. Two first-time NFL coordinators and a head coach with 2 years of NFL HC experience, one year with the best QB in the game, the other year involved management tanking the season.

Completely agree....I actually hate my 10-6 prediction for this team cause im giving both coordinators a TON of credit and don't know if they can pull it off. The defense lacks talent....so Austin gets a huge amount of credit if he helps this team get to 10 wins. Stafford was a dumster fire by the end of last season. If Lombardi gets Stafford where he needs to be to lead this team to 10 wins it will be a job well done. New offense with new weapons for a cord that's never had a playbook or called plays before....a lot for a qb and a cord to take in.

So their playbooks and personell aside....we still don't know how they are at making in game adjustments....which is about 90% of whether you win or lose.

You can see their plan and style and leadership ability. Caldwell is proven good in this league. Lombardi and Austin were great hires. It will put us over the top.

Shouldn't the team be focused on working their way to the middle before you start declaring coaches will put them over the top? I mean, you have to be near the top to be put over the top, and the Lions aren't near the top.

Come up with any statistic you want, as you are prone to do, to justify their greatness... but they got the division gift wrapped last year and still missed the playoffs.

The ONLY stat anyone needs is one playoff game in 14 years. No matter what you pull out of your ass, no one can possibly believe they are near the top with that track record.

IF they get Stafford where they need to be, honestly, I feel the team should be more around 12 wins. They were tied or in the lead of ALL but ONE game heading into the 4th last year.

That is insane. IF the coaching is better... IF the Lions cut down the stupid shit from last year... I think they'll surprise the entire NFL.

Biggest problem though, is everything is a HUGE if.

QB play for sure but those loses were a lot based on the defense not being able to make a play. You have to do one, not fail at both.

The whole team had no spine last year. Schwartz and the coaching staff were terrible. Gun could never adapt to a defense that would work at the end of games and the team didn't know how to close out games. I think that the talent is good enough to win a lot of games this year. The defense played well in games last year but crumbled far to often when the game was on the line. This new scheme should put players out there with a chance to make plays. I had been saying for a while that Guns scheme was faulty and that the players were decent but they were put at a huge disadvantage.

LKP - honest question here. I do not read through the Lions board very often, and have only recently started reading to get ready for the upcoming season.

What about the Lions organization do you feel is a weakness or not up to par with the rest of the league? I ask this question, because I have never seen you once say a bad or negative thing about any Lions player, coach, or staff member. Perhaps you have and I just haven't seen it (as I said I've only recently started reading over here). In all sincerity I'm trying to figure out if you truly believe what you say, or if you are what people call you (a troll), and just like to annoy Lions fans with your super positive spin on everything. I will believe much more that you are genuine, if you can identify to me areas of the 2014 Lions organization that you are not happy with, or needed to be addressed but weren't etc. What part of the team is lacking right now?

Quick answer .. he thinks we have a better defense than the 49's and Seahawks. Even last year he thought that. That we had 12 true wins last year and the NFC north was the best division last season. Oh, and we played the toughest schedule last year..

ahhhhh yes.....true SoS. Forget about the NFLs rules and how we got the 10th pick cause of how crappy our schedule was. Its all about true SoS cause all the teams we played just happened to be "hot" at the time lmfao. When youre the team that multiple other teams continue their hot streak on....its means you suck as a franchise.

Well that's why I asked the question. Does he really believe we had a better defense than the 49ers or seahawks? Or is he just posting that stuff to get a reaction from the other posters?

He believes it. But everyone has an opinion and he went with that..

UM, LKP would try to sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves.

and when her gloves get stained he'd blame david akers for not being able to kick in the dry heat of Arizona.

Tony, no one here is bitching that they added him. What the issue here is that the guy who started this thread is making him out to be an upper-eschelon CB, through his comparisons to Joe Haden, and saying that him and Mathis are one of the best CB duos per PFF, even going as far to compare them to Seattle's CBs, and Patrick Peterson. Did you expect us to not call him out for those ridiculous statements?

Fine, veteran CB who's going to get some spot duty. Cool. But let's not make him out to be like he's going to be some big impact player. He's a 33 year old journeyman that was added a few days before the pre-season.

I hear ya, bro, but we all know he's not Joe Haden.

I'm still right. Very good 2013 season. Variables changed with Greenwood. He played better. Florence is good but Lions have better options. This is a great thing for Detroit to be able to live without Florence. Go Vaughn and Greenwood!!!!!!!!!!!
