Which coaches would you prefer?

Who among us hasn't thought, hey you know what I miss, a Joey Harrington style offense.

Az-Hakim over the middle baby, was so good in the slot. Too bad they paid him like a #1 and he was always hurt.

I thought about something while I was going for a walk the other day. For about 7 years now, people have defended Matt Stafford with every excuse in the book. Nothing has ever lined up properly for him. Now, can we safely say that every Lions QB doesn't really suck because they haven't had the right help around him? What's if Joey Ballgame had a great line? Batch? Stoney Case? Everyone was so quick to throw those guys under the bus, rightfully or wrongfully so. I don't understand why the mentality is so different with Matty Ice?

People still have a Viagra like boner over 2011 and he's tough as nails. Apparently that has bought him an entire careers worth of time.

I know people are going to point to the 1900 yard year but 2011 Megatron was at the height of his powers. He had like 8 DTs in the first 4 games.

Remember when Daunte Culpepper was a probowler just hucking it up to Randy Moss that one year? That was Matt's 2011.

After that year we hoped we got Brett Farve. Some people are still hoping. We got Daunte Culpepper.

And it explains why people make excuses for him: they still can't let go of the fact that he's just not that good. I think we were all equally somewhat excited when he was drafted, but as time went on and he leveled off after his one good year, the smoke cleared. But, fans gave Harrington and others all of two years before basically saying they were crap.

That's pretty good for a WR, 8 defensive tackles in 4 games..

When you put it like that, it's even more depressing. Fuck.

Tony, quick, tell him why he's wrong. I'm low on depression meds from the loss to Denver.

I'm telling you all, John Harbaugh will be the next coach of the Detroit Lions. It might not happen after this season (most coaches are given 3 years, especially when they have a fall guy at the ready in their "worst ever" OC), but very soon we will see John Harbaugh bring the only Lombardi that is worth a damn to Detroit, the Lombardi Trophy.

For those of you who watched the UM game today, you understand why I'm saying this. It is going to happen, and soon. If I'm John Harbaugh, I call Ford Jr. directly since Mayhew would likely need to be gone to make it happen.

Why would he come here? He could have gotten a better NFL gig this season if he wanted..

He grew up in Michigan, obviously he would have watched the Lions quite a bit. The idea that he could come to Detroit and win a Super Bowl, with proximity to hang out with Jim watching UM football on the sidelines on a regular basis, being able to get their families together on a regular basis. I'm telling ya this is going to happen. The seeds are planted.

If he wins a Super Bowl as Lions head coach the same year Jim wins a NC coaching UM, they will rename the state Harbaugh and instead of it being called "The Thumb" they will rename it the Har-Boner.

So could have Jim...in fact, Jim still could go to Miami, or Oakland, or...

Why would either come here? Why would this team somehow become SB contenders because of them? This team could have Vince himself and they're far from SB contenders..

Thinking of coaches out there currently who I wouldn't mind seeing the lions go after this offseason. I don't know too many I feel that comfortable with..Maybe Jim Mora? What else is out there? Realistically?

I'm not ready to give up on Jim Caldwell yet. The lions were 11-5 last year.

Coming off of the 11-5 season that SHOULD make sense to us. Caldwell was suppose to be the answer in making this team more consistent and more disciplined, which he did, last year. What I'm battling with is, when the chips are down and the team is struggling (like we are now), is Caldwell the guy to inspire and light a fire under the team to be better? I just don't think he fits that mold. Caldwell is a one trick pony, if that makes sense. He comes in, installs what he thinks should win, and that's it. If it doesn't work, don't expect him to pull a rabbit out of the hat and change the game plan or do anything out of the ordinary. His " there's nothing wrong with our playcalling, we just need to execute" bs should prove what I'm saying.

I guess that is where I am at a loss this season. Is is the playcalling? Is it the execution? Is it the coaches or the players? Is it both?

Things are so damned broken, I'm not sure where the blame really lies at this point.

All of them, everyone. HC, OC, DC, QB, OL, DL, LB, DB, and all the other coaches. None are doing well.
