Yoenis Cespedes - Cuban CF

Mitch]Reading that, Chapman threw 105.1? Damn.
Yeah, that's what they claim. He throws damn hard, but not sure he's a couple mph faster than JV and Zoom. Ryan supposedly threw 106mph before... not sure about that one either. Regardless, they all throw hard as fuck.

I posted about Cespedes this morning, might as well add this too.

The Yoenis Cespedes Sweepstakes.
from mlbdailydish

Add the Detroit Tigers to the list of teams interested.
Cespedes, a five-tool center fielder whose listed age is 26, held an open workout last Friday in the Dominican with scouts from numerous clubs in attendance.
A number of other teams, including the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers and Nationals, also had a significant presence at Cespedes

Very interesting. I would like to see some career stats as well to see some consistency/progression.

Mitch]He's probably n rods, enough to get a MLB contract.

Perhaps.

I'd just guess he's a good player in/entering his prime beating up on a league that is on par with A-ball.

This but if we're talking 30m, not for the Tigers. The posters here don't think MI will spend that kind of cash on 2012 FA so I doubt this guy will be a possibility.

Here is the YouTube video that every team was sent.

It doesn't show a lot and the production is terrible. I bet you can't watch the whole thing. I made it 9 minutes before getting bored with it.

I definately think he is worth a shot. He can't be worse at the plate than A-Jax. That would give us trade possibilities with A-jax.

I couldn't even make it past the star wars style opening. That was brutal. You mention aj but this guy from the article above says he might want Chapman money. That's a lot of beans.

If he truly is a plus power and plus speed centerfielder, he would be worth it. I haven't seen anywhere close to enough on this guy to make that determination. But that is the job of the Tigers scouts. If they saw enough in the World Baseball Classic, I say pull the trigger.

The 30 mill would be spread out over 5 or 6 years, at leas that was my understanding.

If we can sign him, I say go for it then trade Ajax for more offensive/defensive help in a corner OF position or 2B or 3B.

If he is as good as they say he will get over $12 million per year. My guess is he is a 32+ year old that has been doing roids and HGH for the past few years. Pretty big risk IMO

We gave Dontrelle $40 million contract for 4 years. If we could get this guy for $30 million for at least 5 years, do it.
