Your Tigers Offseason

Would love to see Kubel and Brian Roberts added to the team this offseason. Two weaknesses in the field and lineup both become considerably stronger. Roberts 3 yrs/27M, Kubel 4 yr/30 M, what do u think?

kubel not bad but he is sorta like delmon and i highly doubt he leaves minnesota unless boston or new york come calling. as for roberts no way in hell, he has a severe concussion and it isnt known if he will play again

Whether we want DY back or not, one thing needs to be considered. Dombrowskis penchant for handing out huge deals as a reward for players performing for us. I think DY's back.....

I would not mind seeing Roy Oswalt in the rotation if we can procure a reasonable salary. He would essentially replace Penny and if used wisely may pay big dividends come playoff time. I like Jamey Carroll for a one year deal with a player option on the second. I think he would be a nice lead-off hitter that would tie a loose end up... strong defensively, speed despite age, and leadership. I would not be surprised if Callaspo is their choice. Resign Young for sure and add a bat like Ramirez at 3rd and we will take the Rangers.

Oswalt could be a good get. I read that the Phillies weren't gonna pick up his option, so there's a good chance he'll hit the open market.

KC will blow a gasket if he's gotta root for Porky Kubel. LOL!

lol. King of Detroit is a fan of my nicknames for opposing players.

Well, maybe and maybe not blowing a gasket. He wouldn't be the worst signing somewhere in the middle.
I would just like to see them sign or trade for players 30 or younger that are better defensively. He is about 29? but not that good defensively.

and to be honest, regarding V-Mart, I used to call him scowl face too, when he played with the indians. Glad he's a Tiger.
Beltre is still 'scowl face', but wish he was a Tiger also.

Even though I gladly admit I was wrong, I wanted Beltre in the offseason and not Vmart.

I saw us needing a 3rd baseman more then a DH/Catcher, and thought Beltre would offer more protection for Cabrera.

I'm glad we got Vmart though, but boy would have been awesome to land them both.

Not a huge Kubel guy, but Kubel/Raburn in left would be better than full time Delmon, I think.

Brian Roberts would be nice, if he can play. If he is nursing a concussion, it might be better to look elsewhere. I think that's the right idea, though... a second baseman with a high OBP to lead off. Kill two birds, so to speak.

Would be nice to have him for 2 year contract. I want to keep Turner in the minors for at least 2 more years.

My offseason looks like this...

Sign Mark Buerhle. Reliable LH SP. Turner will be up some this year due to injuries.

Trade DY to the Angels for Maicer Izturis. Angels need a DH and Delmon fills that perfectly for them. We need a lead off hitter, 2B and some Venezuelan players to keep Miggy happy with the departure of Guillen and Maggs.

My lineup looks like this.

1. Izturis 2B
2. Boesch RF
3. Cabrera 1B
4. Martinez DH
5. Peralta SS
6. Avila C
7. Dirks/Raburn LF
8. Inge/Kelly 3B
9. Jackson CF

I thought about Grady Sizemore in LF but he has too many question marks. If he was healthy, he would be great to put in the 2 slot and bump everyone back in the order.

I was wrong. Abreau isn't a free agent until next year and Wells & Hunter are locked in the corner OF spots.

about your original post zoom, why would you still have Austin the Strikeout Machine Jackson hitting leadoff when wed have brian roberts on the roster? Ajax should hit 9th on any team with a decent leadoff hitter.

IMO Sizemore is the better overall player.

But his health is questionable.

Though that would solve our lead-off issues.

1. Sizemore - LF
2.
3. Boesch - RF
4. Cabrera - 1B
5. Martinez - DH
6. Peralta - SS
7. Avila - C
8.
9. Jackson - CF

2 and 8 spots being filled by whatever our best options are at 2nd and 3rd.

The indians have declined the option on Grady Sizemore. I wonder if he will get back to his pre-injury quality play or if the injuries have completely sapped him of the player he was. A healthy Sizemore imo would be much better in left and at the top of the batting order.
But I think the Tigers are looking to keep Delmon Young.
well if we dont keep young then we should sign sizemore for something like 1yr/4 mil

Last 3 years Away

G. Sizemore .221 BAVG .296 OBP .410 SLG .706 OPS

Career Away

G. Sizemore .256 BAVG .338 OBP .454 SLG .792 OPS

Career Comerica

G. Sizemore .254 BAVG .331 OBP .431 SLG .762 OPS

Even when healthy, I am not a big fan of Sizemore. Left handed hitters do really well at Progressive and his home stats bear that out.

i think we should sign roy oswalt to a 2 yr/ 8 mil per with the second year being a team option. I really dont want to sign a 3b because there arent really any worth it. Maybe we could grab Hanley ramirez for 1/2 the price because of his season last year and move him to 3B. he is only 27 IIRC.

Jon Heyman from Sports illustrated expects us to make a run at CC.

SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman
Yankees remain favorite to sign cc. They made offer this weekend. But he's planning to look around. Bos, cubs, det, tor tex threats
