2016 Draft- Who ya got?

Glad to see that he's actually improved on pass coverage. I do like the kid, but don't know if i'd take him at 16.

Not trying to persuade ya one or the other , just thought it was an interesting scouting report .

Mike Mayock: Alabama LB Reggie Ragland will run an NFL defense "from day one" and is a top-20 pick "all day long."

You're pursuading me now, bro!!! Mayock knows his shit

The same Mike Mayock that said he would pick Sanchez over Stafford? And Blane Gabbert over Cam Newton? I like Mayock's analysis but it is far from gospel.

Mayock also said this , and he was right on. Not only on Mack , but also on Clowney .... point is , we can go back in time and prove everyone wrong , but seeing how involved he is in player evaluation i take his opinion as something that is better than any of us know .

He also would have taken Aaron Curry first overall. He can be right or wrong, just like everyone else, it's his opinion. Is it informed and genuinely a good read, sure. Does it invalidate anyone else's opinion on the draft or a player. No.

Never said that did i ? You are the one that had to bring up what he said about so and so

I can see the Calais Campbell comparison, huge size on Buckner. A Dion Jordan comparison might scare me a bit though. Different player than Jordan though, more power. Still the guy looks raw on film, but we have a staff that turned another raw talent into a pro bowler in Ansah, so I could absolutely get behind the pick. Off the edge Shaq Lawson is my guy, his floor is a big sack a game, his ceiling is eating a tackles lunch so bad he needs a double. With Ziggy on the other side that isn't going to work out so well.

Yeah, I can see the worry about him not panning out. There is always the fear that they bust. Another reason I think he can succeed is because Arik Armstead, who's built in a similar mold, looked good for the 49ers in limited snaps this season and Buckner was the better player between the two when they both played for the Ducks. Now Buckner has had twice the season as his junior season. Here's a highlight film of him. #51 is Garnett on Stanford. He just treats him like a ragdoll and that guy is likely to be one of the top guards taken in the draft.

Great game there. When he plays low and uses the full advantage of his long arms and shocks with his hands he's unstoppable.

Here is some film against MSU. When he gets tall he tends to wrestle with Conklin.

Ouch, Conklin owned him that game. I definitely see your point about Buckner playing too high now. I forget that they played the home and home series with MSU the past two seasons. Conklin is a monster in his own right. He doesn't pancake guys but he is very consistent and usually wins his battles. Just finished the OSU v. MSU game and Iowa v. MSU game they have available of him.

My first 3 rounds

1. Taylor Decker, OT
2. Jaylon Smith, ILB
3. Sheldon Day, DT

O Line needs solidified. Decker does that. Smith will drop to the 2nd round due to injury. 1st rd talent in the 2nd rd. Day can create havoc in the middle of the line.

Short of a MAJOR setback in his recovery, I cannot see 47 draft slots passing over Smith. That would be a MASSIVE get for us at 48. I mean.....a top 10-15 talent sitting there at 48 just doesn't happen often.

It's a great dream......but I don't think its realistic.

McShay mocked Reggie Ragland to the Lions in the 2nd round. I don't usually pay attention to pre combine mocks but I saw a couple of you mention him, thought I'd throw it out there.

All "draft experts" have their good picks and bad picks. Their good years and bad years. I don't think you can take any one seriously as better than most.

You pry read it wrong , i was wondering cause i couldnt see Ragland being a 2nd round pick

"“This is a tone-setting player in the middle of the defense, which is exactly what the Lions need,” McShay wrote. “Ragland could fall because of positional value and team needs, but I could make an argument that he’s one of the 10 best pure football players in this year’s draft. He showed excellent power at the point of attack and has very good straight-line speed for his size.”

My bad, my bad. The excerpt I read said "Mock Draft 2.0 Round 1" but the '1' was on the next line by itself. It was just another first round mock, had Raglund going to Detroit at 15. Carry on folks :D
