2018 Offseason

AA needs to be more consistent this season.. There were times he just disappeared.

Per capgeek have about 6 million in salary cap space. I don't think thats including Franzen's IR.

Kronwall, Howard, Nyquist, Vanek all UFAs in 2019.

Also, the 7th round pick from Arizona is conditional of Russo playing 30 games for Arizona this season.

He's 27 if he doesn't hit 30 games might as well call it a career.

No Red Wings on player elected arbitration list.

I think AA was the only one eligible anyhow.

Think club deadline for arbitration is Friday July 6th.

Still, 25 is dying stages to make NHL full-time.

Oldest recently I recall is Franzen who was around 26 when he made his NHL debut.

Looking up,
Jensen was also 26 when he started playing for Wings. Who knows how long Jensen will stick around.

Witkowski was late 25 early 26 when he exceeded the 20 game mark.

On Hockeyfuture forum, they are making their annual poll of best Red Wing prospects.

Results so far;
1. RW - Filip Zadina, 93.2%
2. C/LW - Michael Rasmussen, 63.0%
3. RD - Filip Hronek, 64.9%
4. LD - Dennis Cholowski, 60.0%
5. C - Joe Veleno, 47.7%
6. W - Jonatan Berggren, 60%

Svechnikov is leading the 7th tier with 90+%.
He was #1 last offseason but after a dissapointing year he dropped pretty hard.

I'll try to find last season's results.

Zadina is signed to elc.

Lawyers are reportedly looking into agreement between his CHL team and his Czech team to determine if he is AHL eligible.

CHL teams have 1st dibs on prospects who don't make the NHL roster. For his development, it will be better to play in AHL if he does not make team out of camp.

I'd just put him on the pro team right away.

Ha, that is where they get you. AHL is a professional league.

But I thought it said if he didn't make the Wings, a chance he would play on a Czech team? Anyway to get out of that and have him play in the AHL?

Coreau signed with Ducks. Will probably be in the AHL as he isn't good enough to chase Miller as the backup.

This was like 3 weeks ago, lost in the fray of free agency.

Wings bring back Larkin for 5 years.

Apparently 30.5 million. Not so surprisingly it's the tiniest bit (27k) higher than Zetterberg. Very much a handing over the reigns kind of contract. In terms of value, this seems extremely fair. 6.1 million doesn't even break the top 50 salaries. One could argue just how high Larkin ranks in the NHL, but he's trending up. Young, drives possession, putting up top-line points, plays a lot of minutes, and has been very durable. Of the contracts we've seen handed out the past few years, this may be the best.
