2025 Tigers Spring Training

There isn’t room for Malloy and Torkelson with Margot signing.
Dumb move. Just keep who you have. Unless we have enough
guys to put on IR.

You just can't let someone post positive about tork. Good lord
And you can't say one bad thing about him. How is that different? Or are we suppose to be positive about everyone? So he gets some hits vs guys that will be back down in the minors, or waived, or cut. If he hits then I'll be glad, during the season. His best year was barely above average on offense and below average on defense. He's a 1B/DH he should be pounding the ball not hitting .230 with an OPS of 107. So he looks good compared to other bad hitters on the Tigers. Yay, he's a poor man's Rob Deer..

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers

Detroit Tiger outfielders are dropping like flies.
Parker Meadows is out until the end of May. Wenceel Perez will stay on the IL for at least 1 month. And Matt Vierling is about to be put on the 10-day IL.
None have a definite return date.

Defensively, Meadows is one of the team’s best defensive players (+5 DRS), followed by Vierling (+4 DRS). Perez is in the negative numbers with -4 DRS.
In the meantime, the Tigers signed Manual Margot who is an outfielder with some CF experience. He is a plus defender w/+1 DRS and a much-needed RHB.
There is also Jahmai Jones who is a neutral defender but with corner OF experience only.

Other options to help fill the void are Ryan Kreidler who has an elite glove and a little CF experience. There’s also Justyn-Henry Malloy and Zach McKinstry, who has more experience in the OF.

Granted, the Tigers have a lot of off-days in April but they are playing a very tough schedule, starting with the Dodgers.
How worried are you about the loss of 3 outfielders and the disruption this may cause in their performance?

What is your level of concern over the loss of 3 outfielders?

1. I need to be talked off the ledge.

2. Remaining calm but there is some real concern.

3. Confident that it will eventually work out just fine.

Ive spoke bad of him plenty.
on the flip side, there have been a lot of players that struggled for their first few years and ended up being great players.
I'm starting to think that tork did something personal to mitch.

And I suspect fans talked negative about them this first few years. Take Duran of the Pistons.. Not sure if he signs long term here but through early this year fans were disgusted by him. Not scoring, no defense etc.. But since January he's a different player. As fans we should be able to have a neg. opinion of a ballplayer. Heck, the talk about a HOF player like Cabrera those last few years - if people say stuff like that about Miggy I think it's okay to say it about Tork.

I get what you are saying. Tork may be a bust, but IMO it's way too early to make that call. He is still only 25. To put that into perspective, Carpenter is 27, Malloy is 25; Perez is 25, Dingler is 26, Sweeney is 24

Carpenter might be older but he was a rook in 2023, maybe 2022 and so far has hit well. Injuries aside. Those other guys are all fringe, AAAA guys.

Tigers option 2024 closer Jason Foley to Triple-A Toledo before 2025 Opening Day.

Ben Gamel..really? He has 96 MLB AB the last 2 years, bad in 2022..what's that for anyone..only plays a corner outfield and isn't good defensively at the age of 32..WTF is that?

Chafin being demoted is a function of his 89 MPH FB and because they can. If you take him, you CAN'T demote him. Let him throw for 2 weeks in AAA and then you CAN promote him.

Ilitch Sports CEO Ryan Gustafson says the keyhole between mound and home plate was removed as a request of the players.

The Tigers sign atop the scoreboard had reached the end of its life and had to be “decommissioned.”
The Comerica Park sign a throwback to when CoPa opened.
