Who is out there we can trade for?

Any chance the Red Sux would entertain the idea of trading Pedroia away if they continue to tank with their $175mil payroll? He's locked up through 2014 at $10mil/yr and has an $11mil 2015 option, so he'd cost a pretty penny in a trade. He'd be perfect for what we need and I could definitely see Ilitch giving the okay to make a trade like that if it were to put us over the top.

They might trade him, but would require one of the Tigers stars in return.

I was thinking it'd probably start with Turner and Castellanos and go from there. For an everyday AS/MVP 2B who is locked up reasonably for a few more years, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

What is a shame is there are a number of stop gaps the Tigers could have gone for the last few years like Mark Ellis, Jamey Carroll, Kelly Johnson, Jeff Keppinger, and others...Even Emilio Bonifacio was available a few years back.. Look this list is not earth shattering I know but for the life of me I just don't understand the thought process or plan DD and the organization have for second base. Now we are stuck with Inge and Raburn at second when it should be Worth and Santiago in a platoon.. What do you say to a kid like Worth who is hitting at Toledo but is being blocked by what... What message does that send to the kid. I just don't see the Red Sox trading Pedroia and it would cost a ton.. But we need a kid like him.. Someone who could care less that it is cold in October..

Izturis from the Angels could be an option, Boston will keep Pedroia.

Forget the kid in Toledo. What affect do you think these blockers are having on the players up here. Tigers have 5 batters that are hitting .056,.073,.167,.200,.214. Out of that group can you guess which one is hitting over his weight?! And like three of these have to play ever day to fill the postions on the field. And this is really crazy one of them DH's quite a bit of the time.

Worth and Santiago would be a better platoon then Inge/Raburn and Santiago right now.. I have no clue if Worth will ever hit big league pitching because like Sizemore he never got a shot. His stats are not great but they are better then Inges. I am sure he is a better fielder and is faster also then Inge..

Maybe trade for someone like Neil Walker or Marco Scutaro.

Maybe change would help Walker because he is struggling right now. Marco may be struggling because the change in leagues but he has a track record in the AL
.270 /.338 /.387 /.725 and those numbers loo good to me..

Well out of this group I would DFA Inge, and try and work a deal for Raburn with a NL club.. DD might as well shake things up... What happened to Jimmy's famous sprig training words.
"Inge has to hit"...........

We cannot wait like last year with Inge and Raburn... One damn game was all that separated the Tigers and rangers because we held the tiebreaker with them.. How many game did Inge and Raburn cost the Tigers March through July!!!

If only Sizemore hit in the majors like we thought he would :/
sizemore ended up hitting .245/.342/.399/.741 last year (with most of that being in hitter-hating oakland). its not great, but id take that over what we've got now at 2B, im STILL mad about that stupid-ass trade. he cant stay healthy though, he's out for the year with a torn ACL.

compared to .056 anything looks good.

Well maybe I will wake up in a few hours and find out all the moves have been made... DFA Inge.. Trade Raburn.... Platoon Worth /Santiago until we get a regular second basemen..

Heck where is Tony Taylor or Tito Fuentes when you need them.. Better yet could you imagine a guy like Tony Phillips on this club...Lifetime .374 obp heck he did play 777 out of 2290 games at second...We are suppose to have a bad fielding club anyway... Just a dream..

what about a guy like Smyly or Below w/ Cast and try to land Uggla or Weeks?

I would take Pedroia in a heart beat, and I'd send Turner, Castellanos and a couple other players there, he'd complete our team.

I think playing Texas was an eyeopener, boy are they talented 1-9, no easy outs in that lineup.

I'm not sure if Turner or those other guys will be any good or not, but people around MLB rate them rather well so Turner, Castellanos and others, I want more than an .850 OPS, even if it's a 2B. That seems like a lot.

As far as Texas, we shut down their offense for two games, and without Fister. Pedroia would be a nice addition but that's a lot..

But you'd still take it? The trade was a bust for a both. Sizemore started off well than went to shit and is now out for a year .. Bust. I still don't think the RP we got from them really got a chance though.

David Purcey got all the chances he needed. He was terrible.

It was a bad trade, no matter what Sizemore did/does we traded a player at a position we were weak at for a RP with terrible career numbers.

Sizemore is terribad. The trade went down because we needed a RP and DD saw Sizemore as a POS. He was right on about that. Whether you think a RP for a position player aren't close to equal value are irrelevant. In the end, not working out for either. Sizemore is not a starting 2B and when he comes back, Oakland won't use him as a starter. He wouldn't have helped last year, or this year. Bust. Overrated bust.
