2B trade options?

I agree but then who do you send down? I just can't see Kburn, Inge or Santiago being cut, for various reasons. And you can't carry 4 2B.

Not sure who you are asking, Mitch, but I'd assume you'd cut Inge and look to package one of Raburn or Worth in return for a 2B. You'd have new 2B, Santiago, Raburn/Worth as your depth chart, but Santiago can also back up SS more regularly.

That's the problem right there, which is why I mentioned it. They've been reluctant to cut Inge before, why now? Leyland loves Kburn and who do you get for someone at 3 for 50 or whatever stupid number he's at? And regardless the hot AAA start for Worth, he's not a hot prospect. I'm with ya but if we're to get a 2B, these 3 won't get us anyone..

If Rob Brantly keeps mashing in Erie he could be an option for trade to acquire a 2B.

With Avila, we don't really have room for him on the big league club.

Well it's worth pointing out we only have 1 second baseman on the team. Inge.

Raburn is OF/2B, and Santiago is a backup INF, at 2B, SS, and 3B.

But Dirks could be sent down, he has options, and if you remove Raburn from the 2B position we have plenty of outfielders, with him, Jackson, Young, Boesch, and Kelly.

Raburn proved last year that you just cannot play him very many games at 2nd... 10 errors in 56 games last year..

One might only have one 2B but all 3 play there..

Right, the post was in response to you saying we cant carry four 2nd basemen.

I was just explaining that we don't.

Though if you think about it, we carry four 3rd basemen, (Cabrera, Inge, Kelly, Santiago).

5 if you want to get cute and count Peralta.

6 if you want to get really cute and count Raburn.

Regardless you give me a name that DD and Leyland would cut in place of Worth? It's not happening..

I wonder what it would take to get Daniel Murphy from the Metrosexuals. I don't think he's too good in the field, but he does hit for average. I think he's right around a .300 hitter for his career.

Jose Altuve or Darwin Barney could also be decent targets. Altuve is a tiny (5'5" and 155lbs) Venezuelan kid on the Astros, but he hits and seems to have good speed (9SB so far this season). I think he's about average in the field. Barney can play 2B or SS and seems to be better than average at the plate and in the field.

Tigers need a glove at second to help Defense on the infield, like a real good second baseman.

As far as defense, while no one will accuse Raburn of being a defensive stud. However, he does have a 3 UZR/150 at 2b this year and has definitely looked better at the position. If/when his bat comes around he would be more than tolerable there full time if he keeps up his current level of defense.

That's the whole problem. Mudhen ain't hitting, nor is Santiago. 2B has been a black hole offensively this year for us. They are hitting a combined .160 so far this year. If they could even manage to hit .240 (their combined career average is .252), things would look WAY better.

dont cry, be thankful that kenny williams is still their gm and picked him up. hudson blows.

Really.

It never made sense to me why people who are in hysterics over Raburns .avg are willing to settle for a guy hitting .211

10 mins after he replaced Raburn there would be 5 threads to bench/DFA/murder Hudson.

Yeah lets keep batting the .144 guy just because his fielding has improved this year. I never understand why it is so hard for some on here to get it that Raburn is really very sub-par major league player. He should not be starting and he should just be a utility player.. Just wait till his poor defense shows up.. Oh wait it did the game right after he helped the club beat the White Sox his error verses the twins gave them 3 runs.. Who cares what the Tigers try at second base.. At least trying something is a positive thing instead of standing pat with a .144 hitter... Last I checked a .211 hitters is 77 points higher the a .144 hitter.. No qustion Hudson has more range and is a better fielder then RR.. No worries... No way jimmy benches Raburn... he loves that Gravitational black hole in the line-up....

cause hudson is a 2b that plays 2b and raburn is a DH thats playing 2b.

you dont find many 2b that hit .300 and 20 + homeruns on the FA market 1/4 thru the season lol. If there were a bunch of those i wouldnt even have brought up Hudson. He was readily avail and a better option in the field at his position than what we have imo.
