2B trade options?

Worth and Santiago would be a better platoon then Inge/Raburn and Santiago right now.. I have no clue if Worth will ever hit big league pitching because like Sizemore he never got a shot. His stats are not great but they are better then Inges. I am sure he is a better fielder and is faster also then Inge..

It's a pretty safe bet Worth cannot hit big league pitching since he has never even hit minor league pitching. Worth and Sizemore are hardly comparable in that regard.

Sizemore is terribad. The trade went down because we needed a RP and DD saw Sizemore as a POS. He was right on about that. Whether you think a RP for a position player aren't close to equal value are irrelevant. In the end, not working out for either. Sizemore is not a starting 2B and when he comes back, Oakland won't use him as a starter. He wouldn't have helped last year, or this year. Bust. Overrated bust.

Yeah a triple slash of .245/.342/.399 for a .741 OPS is definitely terribad. Give me the reliever we later DFA'd every time. You said it!

Bust for both. Doesn't mean Oakland wouldn't do that every time, a Position Player over a RP but to say Sizemore is anything more than a piece of crap is too generous.

it was said that the Padres were going to DFA Orlando 'O-Dog' Hudson. He used to take a fair amount of walks and was a solid defender back in the day with good OBP. He's 34 now and hasn't shown much this year so I don't know if he's worth a flier or not. Just thinkin outloud.

First, what do Leyland and DD think of their 3-headed suckfest at 2B now? I would be happy with just about anyone else but they seem okay with this junk or they would have went elsewhere in the off-season. Not like these 3 showed much last season.

Something is keeping Inge here, I don't know what - blackmail maybe. And Leyland loves KBurn. I doubt it changes the rest of 2012.

Seems like the Sizemore trade was not totally based on talent. The organization soured on Sizemore. I have no idea why, but it wasn't just about what he did on the field. At least I don't think it was.

Can we talk Lou Whitaker out of retirement? Bet he could still hit .220...

I think it's time to stop saying "Leyland keeps playing .... too much". If they are on the roster, they are going to play. These complaints should be focused on the GM, not really the manager. There's 3 second baseman on the roster that aren't hitting, I'm not sure what people expect a manager to do about that.

He did have a history of injuries didn't he?

Specifically his ankle, which is the last think you want to go bad for a middle infielder.

Maybe they saw him as a ticking time-bomb and wanted to get something before he lost all his trade value.

Play the best one? Use Ramon if anything, at least based on recent success. Don't play a LF at 2B? Don't play a guy just because he's making 6m and is 10-5 guy?

If Leyland is set on making DY happy and keeping him in left, use Ramon at 2B and Kburn as the DH. Inge should get a game a month at most..That's what he should do.

So, the manager should have a guy on the roster that plays 6 games a year? Again, a complaint that should be directed at the GM. You cannot keep a position player on the 25 man roster that you don't play and be successful.

As far as defensively, considering you don't seem to value sample size, the numbers may surprise you. Raburn, with zero errors, has a 5.8 UZR. Ramon Santiago has a -48!!!!! UZR and has committed an error.

To maintain consistency, you should probably favor Raburn at the position based on defense, considering neither is hitting.

That's the point. He shouldn't be on at all. But based on years past, kburn should not be at 2B.

So based on years past, Santiago shouldn't be in there either. He is not a full time player, and this year, his defense has been poor. In general, I believe he's a fine defender, but the fact remains that he's doing nothing to prove he should play more. At least Raburn, based on the numbers, is playing good defense. Of course, in the end, Raburn is not a second baseman. But the numbers say Raburn is currently a better option based on the play so far in 2012.

That's the whole point. The manager is playing what he has. You want him to play a player that is not doing well right now and has never hit, that's not exactly a solution, is it? This is a problem with the GM.

Inge was at .197 last season. One hit this season so yes, he should be ahead of Inge on the depth chart. Kburn at DH since DY "has" to be at LF.

What you talking about?

Do you read responses or just respond to what you hoped someone posted?

I responded on what the discussion was about, as you put it "what is he suppose to do". Inge shouldn't be anywhere near a diamond.

Production of Detroit Tigers' second basemen the worst in majors at their position.
from Mlive

cringe, shinebox, and Santiago - 8 for 83.

If this continues, Worth should be brought up, jmo.
See how he does, if it's another fail, see who's available June.

This^^

You at least gotta kick the tires on Worth before you decide he's not an option, otherwise what's the point in having him on the 40 man roster?

If he does not pan out, make a trade.

I think something has to be done, which should be perfectly clear given the complete lack of production we're getting at 2B. I can't see the Tigers standing pat at 2B this season, it is just too big of a black hole offensively. Hell, even it it was a run of the mill "league average" 2B, it'd be a huge upgrade. I just can't see Inge being run out there beyond next month if he continues to not hit. He'll have to get DFA'd. I'd try to throw Raburn into a package trade as well. There's just no need for him with Kelly and Santiago on the roster.

Pedroia would be tough to pry loose, but at some point, they'll have to consider blowing up this $175mil/yr experiment if they don't start winning. They've got so many other big contracts locked up already, he seems logical as someone who could be moved for value in return.

I agree but then who do you send down? I just can't see Kburn, Inge or Santiago being cut, for various reasons. And you can't carry 4 2B.
