offense was stagnant for years with ajax.
Exactly, and now we have taken a big part of it away. Offense needed an addition, not a subtraction.

A Jax is not a difference maker. Price is. That is the bottom line with this trade.
A big part? Why would you say that a platoon of Davis/Carrera in center would be a subtraction?
Ajax was:
4th in hits on the team.
3rd in OBP (among player with at least 350 PA)
5th in total bases
4th in Walks
3rd in SB
4th in oWAR
5th in bAVG.
3rd in Doubles
1st in triples
Yes, I call that a big part.
And Davis was already here so for it not to be a subtraction Carerra would need to = Jackson, and it's very unlikely he does.
So just because Jackson was already here, that means we can't count him as replacing Jackson....even though he's gonna be a big part of CF now? That's just weird logic.
You make it sound like we're trying to replace Mike Trout. Truth is, we're replacing a CF'er that carried a .730 OPS.

I find that logic unsound.
We lost Ajax for every game this year that is left, we got Price for 1/5 of what is left, and he replaces Smyly who was not exactly terrible anyways.
Come playoff 4 man rotation time Price makes us better, but until then, I think we are going to feel the loss of Ajax a bit.
Not just offensively but from what I've been reading here for awhile now were talking about a CFer that is regressing defensively.
Before the hot month Jackson was a .650 OPS player with average defense with no trade value, now he's all of a sudden a major loss to the team.
