Jace Billingsley signing to New England Patriots? practice squad.
Winnemucca?s finest is heading further east to New England.

While no Detroit Lions players that were waived or cut this weekend have found their way onto a 53-man roster as of Monday afternoon, a handful of players have jumped to other teams? practice squads.

The latest is former Lions receiver Jace Billingsley, who has reportedly signed with the New England Patriots.

For the past two years, Billingsley has spent most of his time on the Lions? practice squad after failing to make the team in back-to-back years. He was waived again this offseason, but there was no indication if the Lions wanted him back this time. ESPN?s Mike Reese seems to suggest Detroit tried to get him back, noting that Billingsley ?could have returned? but saw New England ?as better opportunity.?

Considering the Lions kept six wide receivers on the roster this year, including undrafted rookie Brandon Powell, it certainly makes sense on Billingsley?s end.

In New England, he has a shot to be promoted to their regular roster at any time. With Julian Edelman serving a four-game suspension to start the year and New England dealing with a couple of injuries, Billingsley could be a good fit there. However, the Patriots were also awarded two receivers off waivers this weekend?Chad Hansen and Amara Darboh?who will offer some serious competition to Billingsley.

would much rather see Agnew returning kicks than Fumblullah. what the hell is wrong with these decision makers.

Lions have officially placed RB Donnel Pumphrey, LB Trevor Bates & C/G Leo Koloamatangi to the practice squad.

Cut LB Darnell Sankey, S Rolan Milligan & OT Dan Skipper from the PS to make room. #OnePride

Lions making moves on the practice squad -- partially after making cuts along the back end of their roster earlier this week after the initial 53-man cutdown:
ADDED: LB Trevor Bates, C Leo Koloamatangi and RB Donnel Pumphrey.
WAIVED: S Rolan Milligan, LB Darnell Sankey, OT Dan Skipper. Both Bates and Koloamatangi made the Lions' initial 53-man roster Saturday.

Zettel was always on the ground. Hard to rush the passer when you can’t stay on your feet

Okwara has 1 sack in his career and was undrafted....quin is just trolling us at this point. What... the.... frick

If you read or listened to any of these Lions stories or podcast posted here or on the Lions notes on players they are interested in, you would know Patricia liked what he saw from this Okwara when they played the Giants. He fits the 3/4 they are most likely using far more than a 4/3 front and Zettel doesn't fit the new scheme.
You are way to knee jerk before we see how it plays out.

Making sense of the Detroit Lions’ move to waive Anthony Zettel.
We break down why the Lions may have decided to cut the young defensive end.

Opinion: Anthony Zettel's departure shows Lions are looking forward, not back.

Exactly! It's not just about sacks. Zettel was awful against the run, he could never set the edge. This kid they picked up is a powerful guy who sets the edge well. He's a player that "fits" Patricia's scheme...
