6.7 mil in cap room

lkp/tony

youre just being negative about the whole thing and its getting old.

Cheeno/hughes

no really...they are gone. Is there an optimistic way of saying they are gone? Ps....were losing all these guys and we still dont have any cap room. So you have a bunch of shit on your team making a ton of money. Gratz ^^

This is as accurate a summation of the conversation since the season ended as there ever was. Do we want them to blow the doors off 2013 and make a run? Hell yes. Is it likely? Hell no. But sticking your head in the sand won't make it any better.

If it was me, I'd take a T at 5, assuming one's there - he plays LT. Reiff goes to RT, Backus goes to RG, LG is Sims and use Nagy at C. Boot Raiola. OL gets much better with one pick. Grab CB in free agency and/or CB in round 2.

Or I'd go DE, DE in first two rounds, grab CB in free agency and/or CB in round 2 and take the 2nd DE in round 3.

If we can retire Backus we save about $3 mil or half a good FA DB.

With the moves were speculatively making along the oline i think theyre gearing up for an all out defensive draft. Any combination of DE, S and CB within the first 3 rounds will be good or even an OLB like khaseem green or jelani jenkins in round 3. Heres my personal favorite targets:

Rd 1 pick 5
Ansah DE, Dion jordan DE or Milliner CB

Rd 1 trade down
Vaccaro S

Rd 2
Trufant CB, Wreh-Wilson CB, Cyprien S, Moore DE, Hunt DE, Elam S, Swearinger S

We can get all those guys in round 2? Sweet.

DE is suppose to be deep so we could also grab one in round 3.

Trying to guess what mayhew is thinking is like sleeping with a hooker. no matter how it happened its always wrong and it burns for a couple days afterwards. I think hes going all defense so hell go OT WR RB. for the record i have no issues with having Fisher on our team. Hed probably be BPA when we pick at 5. I just think Mayhew needs to break mold a bit this draft and start filling holes. Too many needs on the defensive side of the ball.

Grab Fisher and sign Levitre with Backus' money, Reiff to RT, Nagy/Crapola at C. The D is a dumpster fire regardless if we draft Strahan LT and Ronnie Lott in the first 3.

Why has Swearinger suddenly jumped into the 2nd round conversation? When I said I liked how he played after the UM-SC game he was being projected as a 4th or 5th round pick.

I have no idea...its a curse with people who I mock to the lions. I mocked him to us in th 4th round. now all the "experts" got him early 2nd. Ive seen talk of him going to san fran with KCs 2nd rd pick.

Yawn..same old shit from the same fn guys.

Yeah, some players are gone and some may stay. Who fn cares? You retards complain about our current players anyways. Why the hell would you want them back? Like i said a thousand times before, you bitch for the sake of bitching...its fn pathetic. Mayhew brings new guys in, you whine. He re-signs our players, same fn thing. You're all a bunch of whiny fn chicks. Whatever the man does, it's wrong.....fn priceless lol

why don't you speak to your point a little bit and hold a discussion....u know....like an adult. who would you like to see him bring in? whats your take on reggie bush? whats your take on the fact we have 5 people on defense and only 6 mil in cap room? Do you think mayhew can turn over a roster with 6 mil in cap space and his shitty draft record in one offseason?

Ooooooo..like an adult?! Sounds fun!!! Give me a fn break, man....

There's a few guys i would like to see come to Detroit. Kruger, Gamble, Bush, Ellerbe, Freeney. Just to name a few.

And the 6 mill you're talking about needs to be higher. That's why Stafford needs to restructure or they're fucked. I'm not stupid.

I would love to see Reggie Bush on this team. He would be the perfect fit for this offense. Everybody knows it. Problem is, he might be asking for too much and i wouldn't break the bank for him.

No GM on Earth could "turn over" a roster with 6 mil. I've argued with you before about Mayhew's draft record. It hasn't been all shitty. He's hit and miss on both. But you don't like what he does so he's a dummy in your eyes. You're a fn genius i guess...congrats.

Did i pass? lol. You're holier than thou attitude is tiresome...give it a fn rest, bro.

Here's my offseason plan:

Whatever Mayhew ends up doing because that's the only thing that matters. Even it means Reggie Bush with money that is not yours, speed WR or even a Tight End in Round 2. Maybe he takes an injury risk as well. Maybe he takes a guy you don't want in Round 1 like Dion Jordan or Jarvis Jones or Bjoern Werner.

Mayhew's moves will be awesome and we will make the playoffs despite complaints at the time of the moves. Mayhew will win GM of the year and alot of people will crawl away from here with their tail between their legs.

And there are plenty of ways to create more cap space.

:D

I actually wouldn't mind seeing bush in our offense. but like you said whats the cost going to be. if we end up with only 6 mil in cap space do you spend 5 of it on him?....I wouldn't think so. If we end up with more cause of more cuts and a staff restructure...then sure...I wouldn't mind seeing him. Im a big kruger fan....I just don't think we'll be able to outbid anyone for him. Gamble and Houston would be a huge boost to our seconday. I think we have to get atleast 1 cb in FA. The other we can draft in rd 1 or rd 2. Safety were going to be hurting at :/

In the end mayhews idea of being "players" in FA is going to equal bringing Larod Stephens Howling in lol.

Paul Kruger - LB - Ravens The Baltimore Sun reports the Colts and Browns will soon engage in a "bidding war" for free agent OLB Paul Kruger.
The Browns have been "particularly aggressive" on both Kruger and Cliff Avril since Saturday morning's negotiating window opened. One source predicted Kruger will command $10 million to $12 million per year. Both Cleveland and Indianapolis are flush with cap space and need pass-rush help. It's conceivable that the Kruger will go to the Colts and Avril to the Browns, or vice versa. Related: Browns, Colts

Reggie Bush? Who the hell in this day and age spends their FA budget on a complementary piece? This kind of FA target is for teams like the Falcons, Pack, Pats, etc. who have a foundation in place. Especially now where UDFA RBs produce as well as starters (we have one on our own fucking team that does this). This is some Millenesque shit, which makes me know this guy has no clue.
