7-5

So as long as it's a need (in your eyes), you are ok with the pick. Broyles(burlesons age and contract), Best(desperately needed an explosive back) and Young (needed that third deep threat) were all needs at the time.

ya cause that's what I said....need is obviously part of it but slay is a rookie cb in a passing league playing in a shit defense that either put you on an island or puts you in a position where our slow safties cant help. He has potential...which is more than any other corner on our roster has to offer.

Broyles:
Burleson is still playing....and was playing over him still this year. titus was also playing over him. broyles was never more than a 4th string wr on this team...ever. throw in hes a slot wr taken in rd 2 coming off a serious knee injury....we spent a luxury pick on a gimp with a team full of holes everywhere.

Best:
Brain was mush before he got here....and we almost killed him.

Young:
Wasn't a very good deep threat. He didn't help the deep passing game. He was an idiot before he came to Detroit. As far as need was concerned he wasn't as bad as broyles and best....but we didn't do our homework and it backfired.

And yet Lions are still awesome despite the lack of 2nd round picks. All hail Mayhew.

Seattle is awesome, Denver awesome and NO is awesome, KC no doubt. Not us. We're slightly about decent in an average sort of way.

and booger and tony never have any insight or provide anything useful to the conversation. just bash others, get all pissed off, rinse, repeat. I don't even think they know what football is....cause they never even attempt to debate it....they just call everyone else wrong. Saying slay and carey is quality depth is ridiculous when we ALLLL know our secondary is shit. DId you watch the seahawks last night?...that's quality secondary depth....

atleast LKP tries to explain his crazy theories. Booger is just worthless....

Nah, you're just too fn stupid to understand the game of football.

And of course you say the secondary is shit. No kidding, genius ..... we all know that. You want points for pointing that out? Pick our weakest link on the team but disregard all the other strong links? So dumb. You're claiming the Lions have NO depth at all, thats what you said. Shaun Hill (Stafford), Bell (Bush), Durham (Burleson), the whole frickin DLine and a lot of the OLine all are huge depth. Bravo with that Seahawks secondary call ....pure fn genius i tell ya. Who the hell has that type of depth besides Seattle? Get real. Where this team is really weak are our LBs (but getting stronger) and DBs .... my 12 year old could have told us that. Cant have it all .......

My insights are real and it just makes you angry that im smarter than you. You bash this team every second of the day for something to do. Youre a fn troll, bottom line. Comparing the Lions secondary depth to Seattle? Only an idiot would do that and that idiot is you. Do i really argue with anyone else besides you or baseball Mitch? No, i dont and i dont really get angry or pissed off. You clowns are more comic relief than anything else .... and thats the truth.

Now sit back on Sunday and pray that the Lions lose to the Eagles because we sll know deep down inside youre begging for it to happen so you can come on here and crow like a fn retarded rooster. Youre pathetic.

Honestly I don't think it is as much depth with Seattle as it is coaching. Brandon Browner wasn't even that good in the CFL yet he comes in and plays well. He get's hit with Seatterall and his replacement off the PS plays well.

Coaching, yes and just overall damn good players. No real superstars besides Sherman and maybe Earl Thomas. Solid players overall who gel together......a winning formula

Sherman and Earl Thomas are studs. I think we should at least be able to put together something reasonable with our guys, that is why I say coaching. We need more turnovers from the secondary, I don't care if we get beat deep a few times we do that now playing soft. The blitzing has helped hugely the last few weeks I would like to continue this aggressive playcalling trend.

youre calling me stupid and you just named a starter as quality depth. Durham blows and he plays opposite calvin.

Bell is good depth, yes

Hill, sure.

entire dline? You understand our dline is the main reason our secondary blows so bad, don't you? Or do you not understand football? Don't believe me, watch the gb game again...they finally came to play and our secondary looked stellar cause Flynn didn't have all day to throw like every other team we played this year.

oline I listed as quality depth on my first post.

WR, LB, CB, S depth is shit. DT depth is pretty bad....moselys name has been called like once this year.

ST isn't very good which usually means poor depth and poor drafting.....mayhew's specialty.

Mosely has been excellent in run defense.

Taylor and one of Young or Ansah is technically depth with Jones hurt. All 3 have played well. Plus Idonije. DE depth is good.

...and I don't know why

depth is good yes....but we could debate production. taylor has been coming a long the last 3 weeks and rapidly improving. Young is "hurry" master...and weve been at a lengthy debate of how much hurries matter in this defense. Theyd mean a lot more if other teams weren't completing so many passes. Idonije has been a disappointment imo....I was excited about his signing but he hasn't done much.

That's because hurried throws seem a lot more accurate when there isn't a defender in sight. If the coverage was even slightly better, I think the hurries would prove more valuable. Too much cushion given to opposing wideouts.

60% of passes completed. Middle of the pack (15th). Complain about Stafford 59.2% but 60.4% completion rate allowed is terrible somehow when you saying Stafford is missing too much. The Lions are really good on 3rd down. It's the big plays. Pass rush can't get there every single play. Plus they can max protect and still get big plays if the coverage breaks down.

Teams scheme to get rid of the ball quickly because our Dline gets such quick pressure. This Dline has played really well this year. It's more than just pass rush too. Run D. Idonije and Ansah and Mosely are big contributors in the run D turnaround.

I agree on this one. Hurries would mean more if the coverage was better. Lots of hurried picks. Once again, Fairley got a hurry and Flynn was picked by Levy.

Levy should really thank this Dline.

And if you woud like to see some hurry examples why they matter.
Mike Glennon. Lions/Bucs games
No pressure 8 throws, pressure 17 plays (13 throws 4 sacks).
Glennon not pressure 7/8 87.5% 190 yards 1 TD
Glennon under pressure 7/13 53.8% 57 yards 1 TD 0 int

That is a good day by the Dline. 4 sacks with 13 other pressure. It disrupted Glennon. He got us once with no pressure. His shorter TD was his pressure TD. Houston got beat deep while hurt and Mathis got beat on the pressure TD.

Check out Seattles great secondary against Brees
27 dropbacks no pressure 20/27 74% 121 yards and 1 TD
3/11 27% with pressure on Brees. Plus 1 sack

27 no pressure high comp %, 12 pressure, very low %

Hurries matter.

Stafford is "Supposed" to be one of the top QBs in the NFL and he is getting paid like one. He shouldn't be compared to "average" Qbs.

63% with normal drops (20) for Stafford. Plus those pesky 27 TDS (2nd in league)
