AL Playoff Thread

4 days rest is normal. Fister will be on his regular rotation. Though I get Sanchez going earlier because its been a while but Dickerson's theory makes no sense.

Then Dickerson is one dumb fool. Possible elimination game? That's all he's got. Game 3 could be elimination day as well or game 5?
his comment was that game 4 WOULD be an elimination game no matter what if we got there because someone would be up 2 games to 1 (not that i agree with his reasoning for using scherzer there, just saying why he said that).

I get that but why assume it's be 2-1 at that time? Lol. Must have some great crystal ball.

...seriously?

it will be 2-1 for EITHER TEAM. thats what you can get after playing 3 games. either someone won all 3 (in which case theres no game 4 anyways) or its 2-1 for someone. its an elimination game no matter what. either we're up 2-1 and can win the series, or we're down 2-1 and can lose it.

So we're up 2-0, and the better pitcher gets pushed back? That was the point I was trying to make.

See, my point all along. Up 2-0 so why not go with your best SP available. I'd be more comfortable with Max over Sanchez in game 3. No reason to save him to game 4.

Now you'll say if we lose then we have Max. But why not just pitch Max and win.

Lets say we win Tuesday, great - but NY-Balt. take a while. JV would start game 1 again, so when does Max start, he would be on a long rest that might effect him.

My guess is that Leyland feels better about Sanchez starting than Scherzer since he's gotten more work of late.

So in essence Jim is starting his third best option. it's hard to disagree given Max's propensity for that occasional meltdown game and Sanchez has been pretty good against "so so" lineups.

Now this I can agree with.

My guess is that JL wants to give Max as much rest as possible.

Baltimore evens up their series with the Yankees with another one-run win

Both of them will have the day off as they head back to NY for the rest of the series

Detroit-Oakland resumes tonight in Oakland at 9pm (EDT), Anderson vs Sanchez

Oakland forces a game 5 with a 4-3 win

NY takes the lead in their series 2-1 with a late inning win over the Orioles

I have said for a long time that Valverde isn't a good closer.....I can't wait until he is gone!
